It's a nice quaint bar, what you'd expect. It was great they were open Christmas day. Because it was Christmas day likely explains why they were understaffed. Service was notably slow. Who wants to work Christmas afternoon? The beer selection was large but all the same. If you have six taps, why no porter or stout? The perfect pint for winter. The menu looked good but nothing small to snack on between the large family breakfast and the upcoming massive family dinner. I did like the atmosphere.

Spent the day at the spa! My only regret is we didn't book the night. We spent the day in the hot springs and indoor and outdoor pool. The massage and facial were amazing! The spa lounge was beautiful. Perfect escape for a busy week! We will definitely be coming back!

Beautiful place. Amazing breakfast. Only issue I has was our room was damp and the ac was not strong enough to pull the moisture out of the room and the bathroom does not have a exhaust fan. I need to mention we had the outdoor rooms which probably doesn't help and they look like old rooms compared to the reSt of the hotel. The spa is amazing. The pools and hot spring is fantastic. It is pricey but if you can splurge for a night or two , I highly recommend it.

After my stay here in October 2014, we decided to host our wedding reception at the old library here. We were just 14 people. My husband and I met with the wedding planner and left clear the menu, she told us that she would set up the room. On my wedding day, we dropped off the centrepieces and everything else for decoration including the cake. Well, after the ceremony at the gazebo at queens park, we went there, at the moment to order I realized that the menu was not the one agreed, so I found the menu in my emails and our fantastic waiter took care of it. In the meantime nobody could order, but as soon it got fixed, everybody was aware of the change and everything went well, the food was really good. In regarding of the situation with the menu and the stressing moment, after a couple of emails, the hotel accepted it is fault and compensated us for it. What I think it is fair and showed caring and responsibility.

Went to Pillar and Post for a couple massage, and got access to the lounge and "hot spring" style outdoor bath. We stayed for about 3 hours. The massage was great, 50 minute massage and most of it was covered by benefits! Sat in the baths twice, they're small and only fit 7 people at a time but we managed to get in in between larger groups and had it mostly to ourselves. Also went swimming in saltwater pool. You get robes and slippers for the whole time. Quite a relaxing afternoon, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a little getaway!

Double room+couch. Layout was a little awkward if more than one night. Good views, excellent furnishings. Food was fine for a buffet style function.
