It takes a village: My computing nirvana involves an Apple tablet, Google cloud services and a Microsoft keyboard.
Amazon just delivered my shiny new Microsoft Universal Mobile keyboard, and I love it.
I've been using my iPad with an Apple keyboard as a part-time mobile keyboard. In fact, I've used two of them, and I broke both of them as they were not designed for mobility and got trashed in my backpack.
I finally decided to do some serious research on mobile keyboards and arrived at the Microsoft Universal Mobile keyboard. The main benefit is that it has a solid lid that doubles as a cradle. The build quality is very good. A switch lets you choose Windows, Android or iOS. The switch makes the keys function as you would expect them to based on what's normal on each OS. But most importantly, the keys are great to type with.
When I'm done using it, I can close the lid, protecting the keys. It's small enough to carry around, and can even fit in a jacket pocket. When closed, it looks tasteful, rather than a glaring piece of gadgetry. I can go to a nice restaurant and put it on the table, as I tend to do.
Anyway, I recommend this product to anyone who wants a real keyboard that's portable for use with just about any phone or tablet. https://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/universal-mobile-keyboard
