3 billion miles away travelling at 10 miles per second. Data to be sent back at a rate of 1 kilobit per second (42 minutes for one 1024 pixel wide image). Wild.
In a few days, NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft will zip past the former ninth planet, the first up-close look of the icy world in the outer solar system.
