iCloud exploited?

So many things wrong with this article:

"turn on two-step verification, to make sure they are notified of anyone attempting to access their accounts" - that's not what 2-factors authentication does.

"Only Apple holds the master key to decrypt iCloud data" - the user can access the data as well.
A slew of private photos belonging to celebrities were leaked on the internet yesterday, supposedly due to a security flaw in Apple's iCloud that was exploited by hackers

It is not confirmed, but the only common point seem to be they were all syncing to iCloud. 101 celebrities - a bit too many to be a brute force attack/password guess.

I believe this is unrelated to HeartBleed - MS was not affected (not using OpenSSL) and Amazon said his servers were already patched - and they were all supposed to get new certificates.

If it is not an hack, it could just mean 101 celebrities decided to go Paris Hilton all at the same time....

Are Google strategically tactical or tactically strategic?

Interesting Commentary on Google's product strategy and internal competition.

I disagree with the suggestion in his conclusion that this approach creates a problem for users:
"So next time you see two competing Google products and wish they would merge, know that it won't really fix anything. Google will eventually just spin up another internal competitor, and there will again be two of something all over again. It's simply how the company works. If you're a Google user, it's frustrating, but you just have to deal with it."

I welcome the constant evolution and innovation.
I like to have choices from Google and the wider 3rd party developers.
It's a strength of this approach and I'll take some short-term inconvenience for the long-term benefits.

*PS: If you prefer somebody else choosing what's best for you then you are probably an Apple customer ;-)
For Google, its entire product lineup is just a big series of A/B experiments.

Less mobile = with a flat battery?

I always thought the thin line was a cane - it is a USB cable instead!
