Lovely review on Tripadvisor from a recent guest:

“The antidote to chain hotels”

I stayed for 3 nights on a business trip. Initially I chose Pickmere Country House because of it's location, near to two places I had business at; it turned out to be a good choice for other reasons too.

There is good parking at the house, with overflow parking a very short distance away. After a long and tedious drive I was made welcome at once on arrival by the charming hosts.

The house is around 200 years old, and has been comfortably and tastefully furnished. I stayed in the Garden Annexe, which is quiet and comfortable, and just a few steps from the main house. The bed was comfortable, the bedroom and en-suite shower room spotlessly clean, and I liked the good quality toiletries and that the beverage tray included Clipper hot chocolate - just the thing on a winter's night. There were plenty of power points, so using my laptop and charging other devices was easy. Wifi is provided free.

There is a comfortable lounge next to the dining room where guests can have a drink before dinner or coffee afterwards.

Breakfast was excellent, with a good variety of juices, cereals and fruit to choose from, and a large choice of hot items cooked to order. No powdered egg or sausages languishing on a hotplate for hours here; local produce, well-cooked and a choice of different teas or coffee made for a good start to my days. Also of note is that Classic FM provides the unobtrusive background music in the dining room.

I also had dinner at the house during my stay. The menu is short but there is a good choice of dishes. Everything is freshly cooked to order. As a keen home cook I thought the cooking was excellent and I enjoyed every meal. The prawn, and avocado starter was so good I had it every night! I am not a wine drinker, so was pleasantly surprised to find a variety of very good local ales available.

Checkout was quick and simple. It was clear that some of the other guests were regulars, and I am not surprised. I will certainly stay here again, and do not hesitate to recommend it.

Stayed February 2017

Just received this great review on Tripadvisor from the Campbells who stayed last weekend for a couple of nights - it is always a big help to our business when guests take the trouble to write them.

“Great dog friendly B&B in lovely countryside”

Lovely country, dog friendly guest house - we were made to feel really welcome. Our room was the Garden Room, perfect for dogs, being adjacent to the garden. Loved the fact that our dog was made to feel so welcome in the main house, too (lounge), with the owners dog, Monty, and that the guest house is licensed and breakfasts were really tasty, using local produce. Great walks locally, too, such as around Lake Pickmere to walk the dog after breakfast.

The guest house is fully licenced selling some lovely wines and champagne from Tanners Wines and ales from our local Knutsford micro brewery - Tatton Brewery.

We are now serving evening meals Monday - Thursday.  Lunches, afternoon teas and weekend dinners by prior arrangement.  Please call 01565 733433 for further information.
