#SocialMedia is great for networking and expanding your own knowledge, BUT If you want to secure a job as a pilot, keep these social media "dos and don'ts" in mind.

I don't know why I read these bad comments! I'm studying here and I'm highly recommending this place for anybody wants to complete his/her trainings with great instructors, respectful employees, good aircrafts and a amazing airport and airspace for learning!

If you're unable to finish the course in the recommended time and money, that is entirely your fault. The prices and time to complete the course quoted by the admissions officers are the MINIMUM time and money needed. Every student proceeds at a different pace, and every student is responsible for their own mistakes. That being said, far too often at this school I was passed around from one Instructor to another, and I got the distinct impression my Instructors cared more about building up their own flying time, than teaching me how to fly. That doesn't mean there are no good instructors at the school, there are actually some truly excellent instructors who will drag you to the knowledge by the hair, no matter how much you kick and scream ;) I had a good time at PEA, it's certainly not as bad as some people say it is. But I wish I had gotten a better handle on what I was in for before starting. Training to become a Commercial Pilot is not easy, and success certainly isn't guaranteed. There was no indication given at the start of my time that there was the possibility that education would run over time, and over budget. Consider the fact that due to massive increases in fuel costs, an hour of flight time went from $125 to $458 during my time at PEA from 2006-2012. These cost increases were never adequately explained, nor were they accounted for in the published school materials. The quoted prices for flight training were the same when I left as when I arrived, which is a dishonesty on the part of the school. If I was asked for advice, I would say the school needs to do a better job of vetting those who apply to become Flight Instructors. Everyone knows the easiest way to build flight hours before moving on to a better job is to be a Flight Instructor. However, those type of flight instructors only care about building time, not making sure their students are successful. I saw Flight Instructors at the school who made sure the absolute minimum work was done for their students, while encouraging them to repeat flight lessons over and over again. The other thing I would do is make sure the Admissions Officers adequately explain the finances and time expectations for new students. The published course prices must be regularly adjusted to show differences in costs, and students must be made aware that certain prices for courses are conditional based on fuel costs, etc. Also, it must be explained the given time frame for course completion is a MINIMUM. Repeating flight lessons, availability of resources, and prevailing weather conditions can all play havoc with a schedule. 360 days a year of perfect weather my ass, you can't fly during a thunderstorm! All things considered, I wouldn't trade my time in flight training for anything else, but a clear understanding of all factors going into this adventure would have led to greater success on my part.

WOULD NOT RECCOMEND!! Please do not waste your time with PEA rather try a school that actually cares about the student and is not only in it for the money!!! You can do your training for much less and much faster at other schools! PLEASE STAY AWAY!
Response from the owner - a year ago
Mr. Schaper, I am sorry to hear of your negative experience at Phoenix East Aviation, as we take great pride in helping each and every one of our students achieve their dreams in aviation. Those dreams can vary from helping a student pilot obtain their private license for personal use, like you, or to train a world-class commercial pilot who flies pilots and cargo all over the world. For decades we’ve received praise from airlines big and small about the quality of the training we provide our students and have trained over 12,000 pilots since 1972. It appears you are a unique exception and as such we would like to address your concerns immediately. Please contact me at bretth@pea.com to talk about your time here so we can learn how to improve your experience and the experience of future Phoenix East Aviation students.
