The great reviews keep coming in about +Philly Personal Training!

" I guess the best place to start is at the beginning. Last January I woke up and my left knee was roughly 3 times the size of my right. After x-ray, mri, and fluid draining, my doctor suggested I work on strengthening my body so I can take some of the pressure off of my knee.

I had read an article Brian wrote, and decided to give him a call. After 2 or 3 reschedule, all my doing, we finally had the chance to meet and talk. I pretty much knew after 15 minutes or so that I was going to sign up. I liked the fact that the studio is small and private. I did not want any parts of some chain gym. He paid attention to everything I said and never tried to hard sell me. Naturally, he mentioned things that make Philly Personal Training unique, specifically all of the trainers having degrees in a particular, relevant discipline. He immediately understood the situation with my knee and what my doc wanted me to do.

I started working out with Elizabeth the following week. I had no idea what to expect, but after 3 months I can honestly say this is the best I've felt in a long time. My knee feels so much better, and even the everyday things are much easier. She does a great job of making the workouts challenging but manageable. We have some great conversation, we laugh, but she pushes me when I need it, which is pretty much every workout

I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. It's been a cool experience."

Meet the newest member of the +Philly Personal Training staff, Shawn Irving.

Shawn Irving joined the Philly Personal Training staff in June of 2015. He graduated from Temple University with a degree in exercise science, taking classes in anatomy, physiology, exercise testing, and many more related coursework. Prior to joining Philly Personal Training, Shawn trained as a performance specialist and personal trainer at a facility in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he worked with clients of varying skill sets from adolescents to professional athletes. He also worked at a rehab facility where he assessed and trained healthy individuals as well as individuals in need of rehabilitation exercises. Both experiences have allowed him to develop a training style that pushes his clients while never jeopardizing safety and proper form. His education and positive energy make him an excellent personal trainer and a valued member of the Philly Personal Training staff.

We are still the only personal training studio or gym in Philadelphia that requires our personal trainers to possess a college degree in an exercise related field.

Philly Personal Training is happy to introduce the newest addition to the personal training staff, Rachel Kessler!

Rachel Kessler joined the Philly Personal Training staff in May of 2015. Rachel graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor’s in kinesiology where she specialized in movement science, being taught not only biomechanics, but also sport psychology, motor behavior and neuroscience. She has spent years after college working in physical therapy, gaining knowledge and first hand experience working with those who have physical limitations while needing rehabilitation. During those years she gained a deep respect and passion for physical fitness, particularly the benefits of living an overall active lifestyle. Rachel decided to become a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certified personal trainer and began her training career in New Haven, CT, where she taught her clients to trust the process and push their limits. She believes that physical fitness should be a lifelong journey that holds as much priority in life as your career and personal relationships, as it is a relationship with yourself and your vitality should always be a focus.

Rachel’s inspiring disposition, accessibility, supportive and accepting nature coupled with her vast knowledge have made her a life changing addition to many personal training clients.

Philly Personal Training is the ONLY personal training studio or gym in Philadelphia that REQUIRES our personal trainers to possess a college degree in an exercise related field, instead of just having a certification. This is just one of the aspects that separates our staff from the rest. Come see what we're all about by visiting www.phillypersonaltraining.com!

An awesome review about Rachel, just one of our excellent personal trainers on staff.

"Philly Personal Training has been an amazing experience to date and Rachel, my trainer, has contributed greatly to my experience (highly recommend her). She works with you and encourages you each step of the way. She's has a great sense of humor which makes the workouts fly by. I also have to give a shout out to Theresa who has helped me with my diet. Together they are a great team in helping me reach my goals. I've already noticed changes in my endurance and my body in less than two months. The PPT facilities are excellent and well maintained. Brian has done a great job creating and unique environment for his clients and I'm looking forward to continuing my transformation!  Thanks Philly Personal Training!!!"

Another great review from one of our awesome personal training clients!

"I cannot say enough good things about PPT (Philly Personal Training) and specifically, my trainer Shaun. I needed help with weight loss, nutrition and a right hip injury that was becoming debilitating. In the two months since I started seeing Shaun, I have seen a drastic difference in my strength, body mechanics, endurance and I'm down 14 lbs. Most importantly, my hip pain has almost completed disappeared. I am so thankful I went this route as opposed to the epidural injections my doctor recommended. Shaun created a workout specifically for my needs and I know he spends a lot of time and energy on tweaking it each week to fit my abilities. The fact that he's a physical therapist as well is a huge bonus, one that most do not get from a personal trainer. I believe that is the main reason I have seen such a reversal in my hip pain. I have never felt like I was following some cookie cutter routine that is applied to everyone and I appreciate the focus on the individual. There's no way I could have done this on my own. I have also benefited from the nutrition counseling I received from Theresa and learned many new ways of controlling my diet with a realistic approach. PPT will always have a client in me as long as I'm living in Philly!"

Another great review of +Philly Personal Training!

"Short version: Professional, capable, friendly, clean, effective, good value --- stellar. Ask for Elizabeth. Long version: I am a guy north of 50 and have not really exercised in years...don't really enjoy it or have discipline to stick with it, until I found Philly Personal Training. I am in my 3rd week of training with Elizabeth. She is great. Already, I feel better, look better, am stronger and committed. I even started running again because of the strides I have made here. The space is clean, compact and NOT a scene. The workouts have been different each day, which totally eliminates the boredom factor and keeps things fun. Elizabeth is extremely knowledgeable and explains the purpose behind each exercise. She is very careful to teach and reinforce proper form so as to eliminate the risk of injury. This studio is not where you want to be if you want a lot of P90X shouting and hoo ha, or L.A. fitness show offs -- this is the real deal. My colleague convinced me to join. She has a week or two more time in and she feels exactly the way I do--fitter, more energetic and happier "from the inside out". In the past, I have dreaded training. I am a convert thanks to my experience here. I highly recommend this studio and especially Elizabeth. Great job guys!"

I have really enjoyed working with Shaun at PPT. His approach is personalized and he is very encouraging. We focused on form and built on each exercise week after week, building my strength and functional movements. The facilities at PPT are great as well - usually it was just Shaun and me in the studio. Even when occasionally other clients and trainers were there, the space is large enough that we weren't tripping over each other. I highly recommend PPT for anyone looking for personalized fitness.

I'm not sure if I will be able to fit everything in this TINY review box. I googled so many places for over a month. I really wanted to get back in shape. After reading about Philly Personal Training, I kept looking at other places but nothing stood out as much as this place. I booked an appointment that same week. I met with Brian who helped me figure out my goals while staying within my budget. I started the following week. First, the staff here is very nice and helpful. If you have any questions or concerns, they will respond very quickly. I sent Brian an email, I got a response back within 30 minutes. I have never had a problem with them. They are very welcoming. The atmosphere is very pleasant to be in. I have never felt out-of-place. Second, I have been working with Elizabeth. Let me tell you, I look forward to seeing her every week. She pushes me to do my best, even the days I don't see her. I'll be so sore the next day but I love it. I can shoot her a text and she will respond right away. It took me awhile to get my eating habits in order and an exercise routine down; she has been there every step of the way. Oh yeah, her sense of humor is through the roof. She is always smiling, which makes my workouts even better. She makes you want to workout. Everytime I try to fall off the wagon, I hear her voice in the back of my head. She knows what she is doing. She is very knowledgeable. Saying the she is the BEST personal trainer/person is an understatement. Third, The Dietician Theresa is outstanding. I have had a really good session with her. She designs a plan just for you. She gives you a list of foods that are healthy for you while including things you like and dislike. She is very easy to get in touch with if you have any questions. If you really want to get back in shape and feel good about yourself, THIS is the place. I promise you, you will NOT regret it!!

Brian is a wonderful trainer! He helped me loose 5% body fat in three months. I work as a dancer, and wanted to work with Brian to assist in training for my career. He listens to my needs and has been able to create a work out specifically to help me in the studio. PPT is one of a kind and very professional, check it out!

Philly Personal Training is a great place all around from the people to the facility. I train with Rachel. She has been very flexible, personable, and pushes you to your limits (in a good way). She is constantly pushing me and doing new work outs. She's also been very attentive to my knee problems and scoliosis, and have given me exercises and stretched to help with them. She's gone out of her way to look into my random aches/pains. Also provided a home work out schedule for my off days and since i don't belong to a gym, she made it compatible with what materials I have available to me. I started here 5 months ago after not going to the gym in about a year, and even then i wasn't going consistently. My intimidation with that was eased immediately and i never felt awkward for starting out weak. Rachel makes sure to point out differences she notices in my strength and tone and that's always nice to hear from someone else! There have been a few issues with being billed inappropriately. Twice I had to correct them and once it was corrected without my having to reach out. Just to keep note in case you start at a weird time in the month, or need to prorate payments for any reason.. double check the math. Once I reached out, it was immediately corrected, so the resolution process was very smooth.

Elizabeth is amazing. About 5 months before my wedding I broke my wrist, gained 5 pounds instantly and had a serious panic attack over whether or not I would be "wedding dress ready" for my big day. Elizabeth talked me off a ledge and set me up with an incredible nutrition and workout plan. She made hard work fun again! She even went as far as to let me text her what I ate each day and confirm I completed at least one of the many extra workouts she sent me on the days that we just couldn't meet due to my busy work schedule. This really helped keep me on track! 7 months later, down 12+ pounds and 2+ sizes I fit perfectly into my wedding dress. But, even more importantly, after my wedding I continue to meet with her because she has truly helped me change my lifestyle and enjoy working out again. I even get compliments from other class instructors around the city on my form and definition! Thank you Elizabeth! Your dedication to helping me reach my goals has been beyond my expectations! I really feel healthy again!
