“I am extremely happy with my experience at Philly Personal Training so far. Although many people seek a personal trainer to lose weight, I was trying to gain weight (since I always struggled to keep on weight), become more toned, and lead a healthy nutritious lifestyle as well. I was able to gain 4 pounds in my first week and my measurements also increased.
Brian created a customized meal plan for me and constantly keeps up with how I am doing with it. Elizabeth is my weekly trainer. She is also beyond amazing. She motivates me to keep going, she listens to my concerns, sends me workouts I can do outside of the Philly Personal Training gym, is always available whenever I have questions, and cares about her clients so much – she really has become a friend!
I highly recommend Philly Personal Training to anyone who wants to take that leap into leading a healthier lifestyle. No matter what your circumstances are – whether you are aiming to lose weight, gain muscle, get toned, or simply keep up with your healthy body – I assure you that Philly Personal Training offers the best trainers and service in Philadelphia!
P.S.: Please note that they are certified trainers and have years of experience, as well as a relevant degree, unlike a lot of personal trainers in other gyms. In other words, they really know what they’re talking about!”

“My experience at Philly Personal Training was a very valuable one. I had never done any Personal Training before and needed a lot of help. Shaun was incredibly thorough with my routine and helped me to learn all of the basics you need to know about strength training. This combined with the meal plan helped me to learn so much about living an all around healthier lifestyle. I was very impressed with the way everything was run there and how the team takes so much pride in their work – which all benefited me greatly!”

“I’ve been coming here for a couple months now, working with Elizabeth, and it’s been great! Getting started was quick and easy and the workouts are always great; I’m always sore. Elizabeth is always very easy to reach and flexible with scheduling times as well as changing up workouts depending on what I want/need. Definitely recommend Philly Personal Training!”

We had a great turnout at our Back Pain Seminar hosted by our personal trainer and physical therapist, Shaun Logan! We hope everyone there learned something about how to move, sit, and stand to prevent back pain. We'll be having more of these on a variety of topics so stay tuned!

Check out the latest review from another awesome client of +Philly Personal Training!

I can't say enough fantastic things about Philly Personal Training! I began working with Brian almost 3 years ago after hitting a breaking point with my weight. I was the heaviest I'd ever been and getting back to my old self without help felt impossible. When I came across Philly Personal Training, I was first impressed by Brian's academic and professional background. I felt much more confident working with someone who had an advanced degree in exercise and sport science than someone who has a basic background in personal training in a larger gym. Food has always been my Achilles' heel, so Brian being able to also help with nutrition was a huge bonus. The initial consultation made me even more comfortable and confident that Brian would be able to help me get to where I wanted to be. I knew Brian wasn't going to be the kind of personal trainer who pushed you until you were physically sick or made you feel terrible for struggling with an exercise. That approach definitely works for some people but I'm not one of them.   Over the years, Brian has worked with me to fix some physical weaknesses. My most recent challenge has been back pain and fatigue from work. I work in the dental field and much of my day is spent on my feet or in an awkwardly contorted position to work on patients. We have begun to do focused exercises to strengthen my back and I am shocked and thrilled at how quickly I've seen results. It is now infinitely easier to get through my workday and I don't have the same amount of discomfort when I get home at night.   I cannot believe where I am now versus where I was when I first began training. I am in the best shape of my life and more confident than I've ever been and my entire life has gotten better as a result. I am more confident at work and in various social situations. There were so many times when I left clothing stores in tears because of how much I hated the way I looked but now shopping is actually fun. It feels fantastic when people tell me how good I look but what really matters is that I finally feel fantastic. As a result, my training focus has shifted from losing weight to gaining even more strength. Knowing I can lift weight that even some men can't is far more exhilarating and rewarding than fitting into a size 2 or 4. I love the reaction I get when I tell someone how much weight I can do with dumbbell rows or bench presses.   Brian's holistic approach to health and well-being is tough to find nowadays. Everyone, including myself three years ago, wants quick, instant results but those are the ones that don't last. The results I have achieved are lasting and there's no way I will ever go back to what I used to be. I know I wouldn't be where I am now without Philly Personal Training and for that I am beyond grateful.

“Elizabeth is the third personal trainer I have had and in over thirty four years, she is the best. I see and feel the results, like muscle tone. This was the fastest I have ever experienced that much improvement in muscle tone. Elizabeth is relentless in pushing me as hard as I can perform yet she is very mindful of the limitations of my prior shoulder surgery and back issues common in a 67 year old man.”

“I can’t say enough good things about Philly Personal Training, and Elizabeth in particular! Like others who have posted here, I went to Philly Personal Training when I needed some help getting back on the health & fitness wagon. I’d just turned 30, had struggled through a recent illness, and was facing some chaos in my personal life. I decided to spend the money on personal training once a week to get myself back into a fitness routine, and thought that having a trainer would help push me further than I’d do myself.
It did so much more. The habits I developed during my training sessions (From September-November) stuck with me, even after I discontinued my training due to moving out of the area, and now when I work out on my own, I can better understand when I can push myself and when my body needs to rest. My intimidation about weight or TRX machines at the gym is gone because I know how to use them. Even after a lapse in working out, I feel more optimistic about getting back into a routine, because I know that my body will build strength in time.
A bit about the process: I did an intake interview with Brian, who asked me about my goals, and matched me up with Elizabeth. She is FABULOUS. Tough enough that my muscles felt like jelly after leaving most sessions, but 100% positive and encouraging. One thing in particular that impressed me is her education — Elizabeth has a degree in exercise science, which meant that she was able to devise work-arounds for some old injuries / weak spots I have, and we RARELY repeated exercises — she’s great at coming up with creative and challenging activities. Further, she was great about being flexible with meeting times. I’m a consultant with a frequently-changing schedule, and she was great about accommodating this with a few days’ heads up.
Philly Personal Training’s Center City location was easy to get to, and their gym clean and well-lit. There’s even a shower onsite if you need to dash off to work after an appointment. The one thing I didn’t really utilize was the nutrition side of their program. I felt pretty good about my eating habits, so didn’t engage much with their meal plans. However, others might find this feature useful.
Overall, a great experience, and I’d highly recommend.”

Another review of +Philly Personal Training

“I’ve been training with Elizabeth at Philly Personal Training since September and I’m extremely happy with the progress I’ve made and the experience I’ve had so far. I’ve worked out many times before in my life but I would end up falling off and found it difficult to get motivated and stick with something longer than the 3 months before swimsuit season!

I decided that my ‘on again off again pattern’ wasn’t working and if I wanted to get serious, I should invest in a personal trainer. I’m convinced that this is the best decision I ever made. I tend to have exercise ADD so I get really into a specific workout and then get bored after a few months ( T25 & P90x etc.). I explained my workout history to Elizabeth when we first started working together and right from the start we did something different each week. I never know what to expect and I love it! Don’t let the cute little face fool you – she’s super tough and she pushes me harder and further each week! On the flip side she also understands how to properly motivate and encourage me when I’m struggling in a certain area or just feel like giving up. This is the only time I’ve ever been motivated enough to stick with a workout schedule each and every week without giving up! The main reason for me continuing and making this a way of life vs. a quick fix is that I started to see results right away. I feel firmer and stronger definitely look and feel better in clothes – especially my butt and thighs!

I know now that this is a lifestyle change for me and I’m ok with not having things happening overnight because I’m seeing small changes each week. Elizabeth has also helped me with proper workout form, easy routines to do at home, and a diet that works with my personal habits and tastes. The facilities are private, state of the art and right around the corner from my job which makes it really easy to schedule. I really cant say enough about this place. I highly recommend them, you can tell they are professionals who are at the top of their game. I’m so happy I made this decision and I’m looking forward to continuing my growth with Philly Personal Training”

My goal: to strengthen my lower back, which I'd injured several times over the past few years and seemed always stiff in the mornings and sore even after only moderate physical activity. So I started working with Elizabeth in September 2014 and within two weeks I was already seeing results. Now when I play Ultimate my back is the LAST thing to get tired...hurray! Elizabeth's great; she knows when to push you harder and when you've reached your limit. I recommend her to anyone.

My experience at Philly Personal Training has truly been second-to-none. After working with two different personal trainers and a physical therapist in New York, I came to Philly Personal Training looking to build strength and to learn more about improving my own fitness. Shaun Logan is thoroughly prepared for each and every workout and gives genuine thought to each client's goals and growth. His philosophy of injury prevention and functional strength training has improved my personal fitness and has paid off in my professional life as well. The physical space at PPT is welcoming, clean, and has all the equipment necessary to keep your workouts from getting stale. Brian Maher has built a great business in the heart of Rittenhouse.

I began working with Shaun in early December, 2014, we meet for three 30-minute sessions each week and I have been very pleased with my experience so far. The reason I sought out a personal trainer, and specifically one with a physical therapy background, was to correct lower back pain and very poor posture. In addition, although I follow a healthy diet and am happy with my weight, I am not self-motivated to workout and had very little muscle tone. Shaun has been the perfect trainer for me because he is able to incorporate his expertise in physical therapy to improve my back pain and posture with his personal training experiencing to increase my strength and balance. In addition, his personality is very professional, calm and supportive and he always takes time to explain what exercise we are doing and the overall plan for our sessions. He is very conscientious about his clients maintaining good form and systematically progresses in terms of difficulty for all of the exercises in order to reduce risk of injury and so that each exercise is maximally effective. He also provided me with exercises to do throughout the day at work to help counteract the effects of sitting all day. I would highly recommend Shaun as a personal trainer, particularly to individuals who have pain or weakness due to a sedentary work environment.

I have been training with Brian for over a year now and continue to see results and be challenged during my work outs. He helps to set realistic goals, diet plans and exercises that are appropriate for your body type and fitness level. I injured my knee 9 months into training, and he adjusted my work outs so I could continue with our sessions while staying within the limits of my physical therapists' recommendations. I trust his opinion and have felt that he offers sound advice that's based on research and results. I've rarely had trouble scheduling my appointments and find the pricing fair and location convenient. And I enjoy my workout - the best part!
