Me too, but fewer years...
This quote from Stewart pretty much sums up my motivations/career/life/aspirations:
"I really like making software and I have for 20 years, and I work with a whole bunch of people who also really like it..."

For those interested in the truth about that HP Linux story which was banding about recently....

HP are developing a new hardware architecture HP which is going to run a heavily modified version of Linux. Its a totally different ballgame; the CPU has optical connections instead of electrical pins and it uses non-volatile memristors exclusively. This means that the old model of having multiple tiers which include super fast but small quantities of CPU cache RAM, followed by main RAM and finally slower but larger disk storage such as HDD or SSD's are totally scrapped. You just have one huge memory pool which is both the long term and short term immediate access storage.

They are claiming each CPU can randomly access any data from 160petabytes of storage in less than 250ns which as you can imagine would be physically impossible over conventional copper and memory models.

For those interested in more details here's a good place to start.
