Guide to Twitter lists for local business

Twitter can be overwhelming for many local business people. The main issue is finding a way to cut through the noise and actually find local people to connect with. Twitter lists offer exactly that functionality.

In this post I've talked about what Twitter lists are, how to create them and also highlight 5 useful list ideas for local businesses:

☞ Clients and Friends
☞ Target Clients
☞ Competitors
☞ Your local area
☞ Influencers

Are you making use of lists on Twitter?

Some key takeways from BrightLocal's 2015 local consumer survey

* 92% of consumers now read online reviews (vs. 88% in 2014)
* 44% say a review must be written within 1 month to be relevant
* Star rating is #1 factor used by consumers to judge a business
* 35% of customers need to read 2-3 reviews before they feel they can trust the business

More good stuff in the research...  https://www.brightlocal.com/learn/local-consumer-review-survey/

We ducked in after our waitress at the Monument Cafe recommended it. We wanted to pick up some of the great homemade preserves they have in the cafe. What we found was a great little farmer's market plus deli plus fantastic Texas wine and beverage selections. You cannot walk out of here empty-handed. Picked up preserves, gluten-free pasta, and some ice teas. Definitely will be a regular stop for us when we are in Georgetown.

New menu emphasizing breakfasts. Which we had for dinner! Everything very fresh, waitstaff friendly and service definitely better than in past. Will start coming back more often!

We tried Pieology out on a friend's recommendation, and was immediately impressed at their appreciation concerning food allergies. They were more than happy to review all their ingredients with me (turns out I had to skip the red sauce - no surprise). Family got to build their own pizzas - so we could have grown-up ingredients while the kids got their own. Mine included fresh basil and Kalamata olives on the best gluten-free crust I've had. Pizzas were done quickly, delivered to the table in just a few minutes. Great place to take the kids - very casual. Missed the fifth star because the dining area definitely needed staff attention - only one Parmesan canister for the whole place, lots of messy tables and floor. We will be back when we need a quick pizza fix.

5.0 star rating 12/30/15 2 check-ins I imagine working in a car inspection station is stressful. No one is happy to be there. And with Texans having a pretty big anti-government streak, I imagine a lot of people see these guys as an extension of bureaucracy and not a way to keep our roads just a bit safer. So I doubt on the best of days they get a lot of positive feedback. Well, my car failed inspection. The technician came in, had all the paperwork ready, and explained that my gas cap was leaking and so my old Honda had flunked. He let me know exactly where to get a replacement, and assured me I could come in once I got a replacement and they'd get me out of their as quickly as possible. Professional, friendly, and polite. I went back today just in time to see someone else fail. "Your driver's side brake light's out - everything else's fine" the driver was told. "You can see for yourself - we have bulbs for $3.95 or you can get one down the street for a buck cheaper." Again, very polite, professional. The driver was happy to get the bulb and get on his way. And me and my fresh gas cap was cleared a few minutes later. These guys are fast, professional, accurate, and doing a good job in a pretty thankless biz. You couldn't ask for better.

I had always been skeptical of chiropractic - but the morning after my apparently minor car accident, I took the advice of both my wife and my boss and went to see Dr. Mike VanDeWalle. I've hurt my back before, and dreaded a repeat of the weeks of pain medicine and muscle relaxers. By the time I got to their office I could barely stand. Dr. Mike was the perfect chiropractor for a skeptic - he was friendly, thorough and patient in his explanations and evaluation. He went over each adjustment - making sure I was comfortable and modifying his adjustments based on my response, and after the first appointment worked out a treatment plan. I could not believe how fast I got back to feeling normal - before my car even got out of the shop. Their staff handled all of the insurance paperwork and kept me in the loop on my claim. If you are skeptic but want to see if chiropractic can help - this is the team to see.

This review is strictly for their takeout service. My wife is a big Chuy's fan, so when she had a very busy day I thought I'd treat her to a Chuy's dinner. The phoning-in experience was less than impressive, and the phone was hung up without confirming. Got the Elvis chicken and chips. Even though it was a bit early the front area was pretty chaotic - there is no real place to get out of the way while waiting. The order is not verified coming out and I had to ask twice for the sauce ordered on the side. Sides themselves are pretty skimpy - about half of what you would get on the plate when dining. Food was warm - and the chicken tender and spouse very happy with the entree, but if we need a Chuy's fix in the future, definitely dining in. If you do carry-out, make sure to take advantage of the take-out parking spots.

Their telemarketers keep calling our business-related line - when we tell them that we are not interested in their club and to take us off their call list, we get "we are calling a business, we don't have to stop" or " we don't have a list, we use Google to find the area businesses." These telemarketers are rude and obnoxious. No way would we do business with them.
