After pulling 2+ shelves worth of books off this bookcase to go in the donation pile.

How did I fit another 2 shelves worth of books on this nearly full bookcase, you ask?  Obviously you are not a book person.

As disappointed in the likely failure of yesterday's vote to fund Metro, the proposed changes that will happen without the funding actually improve some of my options.

For week day service, the frequency of my main bus route, the 70, will go from every 15 minutes to every 10 minutes during peak hours.  This is offset by losing the 25 and 66.  The 25 was lightly used, but the 66 was faster to get downtown and that hurts a bit.

In the evenings, Eastlake loses the 66, 71 and 72. However, the 73 will be increased to every 15 or 30 minutes and will run later.  This is about a wash.

On weekends, no 66, 71 or 72 anymore.  But the 73 will run every 10 to 12 minutes and we'll gain an every 20 minute 70.  This might be a slight improvement.

The first of two posts on the results of my DNA test for genealogy.  This one focuses on Ancestry.com's predicted ethnicity of my ancestors.
With the new job, I decided to splurge on a genetic test from Ancestry.com, hoping to see if it matched me up with anyone. As a bonus, they guess what your ethnic ancestry is from the results. I don't actually trust those ethic results much, but they still didn't surprise me to any great degree:…

I note that this lengthy obituary doesn't even mention Rooney's unrepentant portrayal of Mr. Yunioshi.

The exuberant entertainer led a roller-coaster life — the world’s top box-office star at 19, a bankrupt has-been in his 40s and a comeback kid on Broadway as he neared 60.

Happy Independence Day everyone! (Someone really needs to do a mashup of this with America, Fuck Yeah!)

Also, you're welcome.

I don't think anyone has to read and judge Vox Day's story on the merits of the story itself without regard for the douchebag author. However the story is judged, it will go down as the worst novelette to make the final ballot to date.

I'd leave off "to date" except i'm sure that the douchebag will see this as a success and use the same method to get an even worse story on the ballot in the future.

The second talks about matching other people who also took tests for genealogy.
In my last post, I wrote about the estimates that Ancestry.com made regarding my ethnicity based on my DNA results. That wasn't why I took the test though. I wanted to see which family lines I matched. By that, I mean I wanted to find other people who have enough matching genetic markers to indicate…

That everyone re-posting the Andre Johnson story is doing it to point and laugh disturbs me muchly. The equivalent of pointing at the hair of a cancer patient undergoing chemo and laughing.

I really need to stay away from minimum wage debates.

All the tears for job creators who will go out of business if they can't stiff employees makes me want to strangle people.

If only they could cut the minimum wage in half. Then the unemployment rate would be near 0% :p
