Hey, I'm new to this group. I've got a project in mind to do a little upgrade of a squier strat I have (Korean made, pretty cheap I think but it stays in tune and has reasonable action). I'm thinking to upgrade the pickups one by one (can't afford to do them all at once). I've seen these Seymour Duncan ones on Amazon - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0002F57E2/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_p36Mwb7SGV0WP

Does anyone have experience of this kind of upgrade, know the kind of difference I can expect (is it night and day or more subtle?) And any gotchas or do's / dont's?

Thanks all.

Hello Mr Philip Leaper :)

New picup`s on your Squier is a good thing! Looking at some comments above it
almost ridiculed that you are replacing your picup`s. See the point of purchase
a new guitar of higher quality had been better and more "sensible".
But Squier from korea, can be a very good soulmate and a great cause, and few outlets
for his musical needs with. But if you had played guitar 3-6 hours per day, 7 days
week so would suffice your Korean friend fort been 6 feet under the surface. If not the, as had
Been enough :) "Seymour Duncan SCR-1B Strat®Cool" is an awesome picup and songs
fight good if you ask me! It costs 1/4 of a brand new Fender Stratocaster Standard (HSS RW)
here in Norway. But it's not money, brand or quality that is the point here.
If I had been you as I had bought new picup`s, mashinheads, new upper strengsal. New chair behind,
new strings and got a guitar techniques and inntonere and adjust action on your Korean friend!
You'll get a fight nice rally and gained a broad smile, you would be very happy and the Korean
would become a huge good cause and play. Do not think you would notice much of the sound and tone of the guitar.
Would say that the sound and tone is something that is in your fingers, zeal least 80% of it. If you have a read paul
from 61, or a fender to 25 $ 000 so it does not matter as long as one has not "sound" in the fingers.
Looks "guitarists" most ... are very concerned that they have an "animal old diamond" and show off when they should
play. Know only one thing about playing guitar and i. Some players and some "play" guitar. I play guitar !
If I were you then I would test out, Fender Texas Special coils. The pickups sound good if they find
tone of your fingers :)

LG G Watch R  -

Anyone seen this? When I take my g watch r off the charger it sometimes flashes like this for 10 - 20 minutes. Only when the screen is in normal mode, not ambient, I have factory reset a few times, doesn't seem to make a difference.

How are your leather backs getting on after several months of use? The idea of leather is that it ages gracefully - doesn't resist marks and wear, but embraces them. So show off your wear and tear, turn your phone round and #showyourback

Only problem is you won't be able to use the G4's camera to do it 😀

Changed ROM to cyanogenmod 13 from stock last night (after a hairy hour of boot looping). Since the marshmallow update I've been regularly running out of juice in the evening (like every night), something that had never happened before. So gave it a shot and here I am with 21% left after quite a high usage day getting everything set back up how I like it. Only thing I'm really missing is the camera, but Google camera and FV-5 have me covered for most eventualities. No questions, just saying... ✌

EDIT: Actually, I would word any petition as a request for full feature support on third party ROMs: camera, TV out, IR etc.

This was one of the reasons I vowed never to go back to Samsung - the hardware was great, but the stock software was awful. The above features weren't supported on cyanogen for the S4 and I didn't want to lose them on my primary phone, so I was stuck on stock.

Now that the S4 is my backup/satnav phone, I've put CM on it and it's transformed. Everything is better: performance, battery life, update process.

But now I have the same issues with the G4 (actually LG stock is not so bad, but CM would still be much better). If only these manufacturers would realise third party ROM support would increase brand loyalty, not the other way around.

Anyone with the Marshmallow update, can I ask a few questions?

1. Is doze mode enabled? How has that affected the battery life?

2. Any updates to the camera app?

Thanks.

Lg sleep time was always way better in lollipop so dose is making no such real difference for Lg
Camera exposure in auto mode is well balanced now and dynamic range is good but only assessment could be made by a good photographer and slow motion mode added in rear camera and panorama added in front one..

I don't mind the look of the skin but they still haven't managed a smooth lollipop even on the G4 yet. I'd just like to see them take some time on this one, adapt all the features instead of rushing it out, and get it right.

Tonight's Google announcement was talking about marshmallow, specifically the new Nexus devices, which have among other things slow mo video and android imprint.

It got me thinking, in what way could the G4 leverage these updates? Firstly the slow mo interface for the G4 is not great, if there was a Google designed interface that could utilise the G4 camera, I reckon that would be better - do you reckon its just a case of getting the APK or something specific to the new nexuses? On to the fingerprint sensor, what do you reckon the possibility would be of someone making a replacement back that contains a fingerprint sensor? I think there are connectors in the back side of the case that can do some things, just not sure what.

Any thoughts?

+Klaas K. yeah, you're probably right about the back plate. The slow mo I don't have any issue with the actual capture, its just the interface for making and saving a slow mo video that can be shared - surely all that stuff is just in the app.

Simply amazing place. The decor looks a little bare-bones, but that simply doesn't matter when it comes to the food. Exotic steaks serves on hot rocks so you get to cook it yourself to your exact liking, a fantastic selection of beers and helpful knowledgeable staff who are more than willing to indulge your every whim - I will be returning to this place...

Fab take-away. Service is second to none. It's been our go-to take away for about 3 years, and we've tried others but keep coming back to Peking Inn. Really helpful friendly guys that run the place, and the food is great.

I have been using Arc cars for about a year now, primarily for business. The personal service provided by the company is second to none and I have never been disappointed. The cars are always immaculately clean, drivers are professional and courteous, while remaining very personable and chatty (if you want them to be). I have had many early-morning and late-evening pickups and never once been let down. Ability to pay by card is a bonus. I wouldn't even consider using another service unless I absolutely had to.

Nice for the price. Not the most elegant place in the world, but staff are really friendly and helpful, food is great and rooms are comfortable and reasonably conditioned. Not much in the local area, but can't really blame that on the hotel. I had to stay for business for a few weeks and was very comfortable. Wifi was typical hotel speed (I.e. not great) but still managed a decent video call home every night.
