WHATWG Weekly: Now it’s <time> for <data>

So, I hoped e.g. Opera would, given <time datetime="2011-12-24 12:00:00 PST">12/24/2011 noon</time> display my LOCAL, time-zone corrected time.
Does this work with <data>?

No, Opera didn't implement that, I think the result would be pretty terrible, with Swedish dates in Chinese text and similar. If only Opera displayed it differently, I'm quite sure we'd get the blame, especially if people miss their meetings due to it.

An extension could do this of course, even with <data> if it's also marked up with a microformat or microdata.
