Was down on the riverfront, enjoying the way the light & shadows arranged themselves.

Saw this video from a friend and thought what a great anti-smoking video. Short and powerful.

The Opal Creek ancient forest (Oregon) shimmers with color. Just had to make this image in monochrome, though!

Just got back from the three-day NW Symposium for Alternate Process Photography in Astoria, Oregon! Great speakers, excellent work to view, and a pre-opening reception at the Lightbox Gallery! http://www.altphotopacifica.org/Events.html

This was a email sent to me by a friend. I thought it worthy to share.

Think about this. You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.

1. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way..

2 A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.

3 Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.

4.. You mean the world to someone.

5. If not for you, someone may not be living.

6. You are special and unique.

7. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you  and wait, sooner or later, you will get it or something better.

8. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good can still come from it.

9. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely turned your back on the world.

10. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.

11.. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.

12 . Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know and you'll both be happy .

13. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great.

At tonight's juried art show opening, my image "Structure of the Leaf" was awarded an Honorable Mention! Thanks to the Portland Photographer's Forum, juror Jennifer Zika, & the Architectural Heritage Center for a fun evening!

Lauren said "shoot, shoot, shoot" so that's what I'm doing... Here's hoping she was talking about photography!
Introduction
Phil is a visual artist/photographer who spends as much time as possible creating beautiful/intriguing images, which are essentially non-verbal communications with the viewer. He shows his work in group and juried shows, and via the internet. He is active in the local photography community, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Portland Photographer's Forum, and is a member of the Newspace Center for Photography.

School Psychology was his "real job" while his children grew. He was also employed an Adjunct Professor at Pacific University and the Lewis and Clark Graduate School of Counseling and Education. He was a Certified Instructor for the NASP PREPaRE school crisis prevention and response curriculum. He was active in professional groups such as the National Association of School Psychologists, and the Oregon School Psychologists Association. He was one of the founding members of the National School Psychology Certification Board.

He enjoys spending time with nearby family and providing child care for grandchildren with his wife, Carolyn.
Bragging rights
While in college, I was a "stringer" for United Press International and got to photograph Hubert Humprhey, which makes a great item when playing "Two Truths and a Lie"!
