How can animals be blue in the absence of blue (pigment)?

The answer is found in what is called Structural Color, a phenomenon in which arrays of surface nanostructures scatter light and then reflect particular wavelengths to be seen by you and me. Transparent nanostructures may be found on the wings of some butterflies.
Come look she said, and introduced me to Trametes versicolor. Its color pattern so closely resembles that of its distant relation that the fungus is known by the common name, Turkey Tail. What str…

Tesla announced today that it's rolling out a referral program through October 31st that's designed to boost sales through word of mouth, and it's a pretty decent one: for every referral that...

And you thought you knew TP

Now you know.

The “over versus under” toilet paper argument has been waged in bathrooms everywhere since it was first invented.
Plenty of space online in the form of polls and listicles has been dedicated to the proper way to orient our toilet paper.
The subject even has its own section on Wikipedia filled with arguments for “over” (reduces the risk of transferring germs, easier to find the end, looks better) versus “under” (tidier appearance, harder for a pet to unravel the roll).

Ok. Innovation can stop now. I officially can't keep up.

#Google just introduced a whole new kind of Chrome OS computer—a dongle that plugs into any HDMI-equipped display. It’s called a #Chromebit, and it isn’t your run-of-the-millstreaming stick. For under $100, you’re looking at a full computer that plugs right into your TV. #Linux

While 23andMe can inform you about your ancestry, that information doesn't define you, as has been so eloquently written about by Jesmyn Ward in the New Yorker, and by Simone Kitchens in her story that first At Home in the WorldIn my apartment, with a favorite photo of me and my ...

Not great. Doors are installed incorrectly, so they open in the wrong direction. People parking in the middle of the drive-up lane. Eating area is dirty, with spilled food everywhere (we had to clean our own table while watching an employee walking around the seating area. Food was properly cooked and came as ordered. Everything else was a mess.

Came as an RBNY fan prior to the game. People were already heading out so the bar was starting to empty. Barmaid ignored me and served three people who came to the bar after me, but appeared to be regulars. Returned after halftime to get out of the heat and received better service from another server. Not sure why my experience was so vastly different between two barmaids. Will only return if no other option.
