I often use my phone, both alarms and a timer/stopwatch app for a number of reasons. The two biggest are for sporting events and for cooking. In both you often need to keep a number of things in sync and sometimes need to start and stop timers while keeping others running.
I have a regular watch which is specifically designed for referreeing soccer/football. As such the timers work very well for that function but poorly for others. It would be nice to be able to switch between different types of timers and to have several timers, or at least breakpoints, which could run simultaneously. This would be useful not just for the specific timekeeping requirements of sports but also for things like interval training.
Being able to define stages as count down vs count up (and possibly the precision of those stages) would be nice. I have never seen a timer app that lets me specify something like "I want to run for five minutes [Countdown] then rest until I catch my breath [count up to let me know how long I rested], then run for five more minutes[countdown], then 5 minutes of cooldown [countdown]" I have seen the ability to define multiple countdowns (either something structured like a sports timer or flexible intervals) but not to mix.
It would be a nice bonus if it had a multiple stopwatch function with an export function. Again, I've seen "lap/split" type stopwatch apps, but nothing particularly flexible and with an export for if you're tracking progress or something else where a record of your split times would be valuable.
There are plenty of good running apps, but incorporating a speed indicator with that record would be sweet (if you're timing sprints, say, something that used the GPS chip to give you top speed would be cool, but it may not be precise enough or have a fast enough sample rate.)#TruesmartMyWishApp #SmartTimer #Smartwatch
