The person who does end up helping the boy reminds me that the last shall truly be first in the Kingdom of Heaven. Don't pass up the opportunity to help someone, even if you only have a little, it can help a lot.

Date night! My love took me to see the adaptation of my favorite C.S. Lewis book, The Great Divorce and it made me want to read it all over again. As my friend who introduced me to the book used to say, "The bus is always running"!

Hope you'll check out the book or find it playing near you.

Hooray the Python Visual Tutor now supports Java and JavaScript! With this update the tool supports even more languages taught in CS classes. Check it out at http://pythontutor.com/visualize.html

Congratulations and thank you +Philip Guo and +David Pritchard for this update!

This is an excellent program with strong curriculum, mentoring, and collaboration. I was a T/A for this program last year and was impressed with the students' projects. It is very hands-on and a lot of fun.

I encourage you to sign up (or let your students know).

On Monday, February 25th at 4:00 pm PST, we'll be hosting a Hangout On Air to discuss one of our educational programs, Google’s Computer Science Summer Institute (google.com/students/cssi). CSSI is a 3-week summer program for rising college freshmen (current high school seniors) who are intending to study Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field at a 4-year university in the US or Canada. CSSI is dedicated to increasing the enrollment and retention of underrepresented students in computer science.

This Hangout On Air will consist of two Googlers who help manage CSSI, two past CSSI program participants, and a handful of high school seniors who will be asking the Googlers and CSSI alumni about the program and their experiences.

Submit your questions for the participants by using the hashtag #cssihangout . You can also take a look at frequently asked questions here: http://goo.gl/kezfQ.

Applications for CSSI will be available on March 4th at google.com/students/cssi.

I was trying to do a GET request and could not get exactly the behavior I wanted. I try to use pure JavaScript when I can but I checked everything from the W3 spec to W3 schools (don't judge me) and nothing was working.

Finally I thought, I'll check jQuery. Of course they have a get() function and of course it does everything I need it to without any issue. Sigh jQuery, why are you so awesome?

Writing this on a plane on the way back from a conference. If you can get some of the great insights and ideas from others without always needing to fly somewhere else do it.

These on air conferences are great I recommend checking them out.

Teachers often say they learn the most from one another. Luckily, technology today now helps us connect more easily, and educators don’t have to feel isolated. Join us for Education On Air, a free conference with no travel -- all you need is a web browser and an Internet connection to learn with other educators! #GoogleEduOnAir http://goo.gl/wSYlMU

A great visual. Is there anything Lego can't do?
What's a good blog on probability without a post on Bayes' Theorem? Bayes' Theorem is one of those mathematical ideas that is simultaneously simple and demanding. Its fundamental aim is to formalize how information about one event can give us understanding of another. Let's start with the formula and some lego, then see where it takes us. Bayes' Theorem states: $$P(A|B) = \frac{P(B|A)P(A)}{P(B)}$$ As far as formulae go this one i...

This is what happens when your example is Jesus and His Spirit lives in you. Not only were those killed still sharing their love of God, but their family members have said they forgive them and would have dinner with them (their sign of kindness and love).

So much of Jesus is seen in their lives and I'm inspired by them! Romans 12 comes to mind:
-Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
-Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
-Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Agreed, and I think that is why in the video they commented that they felt the air strike was justified. It's difficult though when those perpetrating the persecution are the authorities or at least are permitted by the authorities.
