Have you tried Crystal Knows yet? Firefly's +Charlotte Stoel gives an overview of the service, which profiles people's communications preferences and working style. A few of the ones I tried were a bit like horoscopes (ie generic enough to apply to everyone), but enough were uncannily accurate to warrant taking a closer look. http://bit.ly/1Kr5Cc7

Good #TEDTalk  explaining about the optimism bias (essentially we all think good things will happen to us and bad things will happen to others). Watching it makes me think about implications in communications, particularly in areas such as healthcare and, right now, with an election campaign running. Also, I think that entrepreneurs are hardwired with a massive optimism bias.

Must-watch interactive documentary from Mozilla man +Brett Gaylor about the surveillance economy, showing how ad networks work and what your data is worth to internet companies. I was surprised how much money Google makes from my data, especially compared to Facebook. If you watch the documentary, you can get your "value".

How do you measure influence on Twitter? #Klout  and #Kred  have claimed to understand this for a while, but most people have been a bit sceptical, to say the least. In this blog post, Captain Economics unpacks his algorithm to working out who is most influential, using economists as an example. 
How is it possible to measure online influence on Twitter? And how to identify the top 100 most influential Twitter accounts related to economics? Introduction

My name is Phil Szomszor and I am UK managing director at Firefly Communications, a PR agency that helps ambitious businesses to grow. 


Our mantra at Firefly is “PR in High Definition”. This means clearly aligning communications campaigns to our clients’ business goals and working together to continually improve. 

We’re a nimble, highly-effective agency and my role as a hands-on managing director is to work with our client teams to deliver striking results and continue to improve Firefly’s proposition. 

I’ve been working in PR and digital communications since graduating with a marketing degree in 1997. In that time I’ve worked with dozens of start-ups, fast track businesses and household brand names, combining media relations with social media and other marketing communications activities.

In my spare time I’m a blogger, podcaster and public speaker, so whether you’re on the look out for a new PR agency or some views about the industry, please get in touch.
