There's a big yellow banner with red letters.

Google Play is currently experiencing very high traffic. Nexus 4 is not sold out and will still be available for purchase. Please try again shortly. Thank you for your patience.

You know, just in case you didn't notice.

I didn't notice any patience.  I'm glad google told me about it.

At least that's a LITTLE bit of communication this time around...

i kno right since everyone is posting that hahaha lol oh we'll

Nexus Derangement Syndrome - The fear that the Nexus device one is trying desperately to purchase will be sold out once the servers are capable of bearing a high load of traffic.

Interestingly enough we are being told that the Nexus 4 hasn't sold out on the UK Play site also. If only we'd had stock then I too could be wielding a pitchfork right now.

I will laugh and laugh if they actually DO sell out of them....I guess they'd never admit it...just quote an 8 week shipping time!

At least is not dropping it from my cart...

I have seen it say add to cart since they opened it back up. Looks like they are doing a better job this time haha

that server keeps getting slammed like a cheap date!!

telmo i am thinking same thing my freind will sell me his cause he got this for 500 dollars

Is it possible Google does this on purpose, to drum up "excitement".  Even if its negative excitement, it still gets folks talking...

Same goes with Ingress.  Limit invites and watch while people clamor over limited invites...same with Google+ and with Gmail when it launched.  Just wondering you all's thoughts...

Not even sure I want one, but now its kind of a challenge.

I hate being told to have patience...

+Chris Morales I've been banging that drum since day one. I'm right there with you. I can't see how it could be explained any other way. They have all the money in the world and they could have just bought a company to handle it by now.

I love Google, but I'm starting to think they don't love me back as much.

The harlot!

I wonder how many genius engineers it took to finally come up with the equation of communicating?

I am thankfull that google isn't in the medicine business

I was just able to process the order

+Telmo Guerreiro it took two hours of continuous refreshing and clicking... insane.
I don't even want the phone that badly. It just pissed me off...

Ad blockers have been out for a while including some custom ROMs that do it by default. As of yet hasn't hurt income because too few people are saavy but I do fear the day the masses jump on the band wagon.

I just got mine, I had given up. I saw that someone posted they were able to get one and sure enough first try (this time) it went through without a problem. 10 mins ago.

Phil, I know the whole Android community has been up in arms over Google's handling of stuff on the Play Store. I understand that hosting a website that lots and lots of people visit (all at once in this case). I think it would be really interesting if someone from AC could get in contact with someone from Google and do an interview about the whole thing. Not a "we demand an explanation" thing like some have suggested, but rather a "here are some of the challenges we faced. Here are some of the things we tried" type thing. I don't know if Google would want to go in to enough technical detail for it to be worth it, but if they did I for one would be very fascinated.
