Are you a tech company looking to hire a more diverse crop of workers? Are your traditional recruitment methods failing to generate enough interest from women and minority candidates (or any candidates)? Then you'll want to read my piece in +ITworld today.
Anonymous application forms, interviews, and skills assessments are helping a U.K.-based company to generate a larger, more qualified, and hopefully more diverse pool of applicants from which to choose.

Good news: Email spam is way down over the last few years. Well, it's good news if you're not an email spammer. My latest #cartoon  for +ITworld.

Google engineers really like their golf - but the kind that involves code and algorithms, not clubs and balls, as I write about today on +ITworld. #programming
A regular internal coding competition allows Google developers to show their creativity and also helps with hiring other engineers.

Software developers have to remember lots of stuff. How do they do it? Mnemonics, as I write about today on +ITworld.
Coding mnemonics, which help software developers remember everything from variable names to language syntax, can take many - sometimes odd - forms

Today on +ITworld I write about some of the more famous software mishaps that have occurred in outer space. #programming
Software bugs can occur anywhere, but can be particularly troublesome (and costly) in space.

While programming is a pretty good job these days, a new survey suggests that most developers don't feel that their work makes the world a better place, as I write today on +ITworld. #programming   #career
High pay? Check. Job security? Check. But when it comes to feeling that their jobs have meaning, even telemarketers rank higher than software engineers, according to a recent PayScale survey.

Are you familiar with the species of fly named in honor of Bill Gates? It's just one of the unusual ways in which tech stars have been honored, some of which I write about today on +ITworld.
Over the years, these stars of technology have been showered with honors, some of which are a little odder than others.

It's summer camp season! In honor of that, here's a summer camp themed #cartoon  I drew for +ITworld a few years back.

A follow-up piece to my post on +ITworld last week about how good the job market is for computer science grads. You have register (for free!) to read this one, but it's well worth it because of the sweet #infographic  our crack design teem whipped up.
This infographic based on a survey of recent college graduates demonstrates just how much the job market loves computer science majors

Today on +ITworld I look at comparisons of salaries for US and UK developers and there's a pretty clear trend... #programming
A new comparison of salary data finds that software engineers in the United States make significantly more than their counterparts in the United Kingdom.
