Ok. I'm back on the age old quest for good links but Does anyone know of any basic resources for getting some standard quality, respected links to begin with before the major outreach starts. say a solid 10/20 links that you get for every site you work on?

In my case, because my site is visual and includes thousands of images, Pinterest is my largest backlink domain. People will share an image multiple times along with the link. The Pinterest links themselves aren't as valuable because they are "nofollow" but many people are sharing and posting followed links from these links indirectly on their own websites, I am getting many links from them.

At last Google are thinking about the customer. How long before bots crack this though?
On Wednesday, Google announced that many of its “Captchas”—the squiggled text tests designed to weed out automated spambots—will be reduced to nothing more than a single checkbox next to the statement “I’m not a robot.”

Sorry to ask this question but recently I had the issue of a client whos Google Plus page I set up...and was working nicely, then they set up 2 additional pages for their other stores. These other stores over-rided the address of the main store when googling the company name.

The serps was showing the branches instead of the main stores.

My solution was a bit of a hack, I removed the branch pages.
I was under the impression I could add other branches to the original listing but cant seem to find where to do it.

Anyone else encountered this isue

It's one page per location, +Phil Gregory. For main location to show up more - make sure you tie it well with website. Use schema, have it in the footer, consistent citations across the web, etc. You don't need to delete those pages for all 3 to co-exit well. Just make sure the main one is more emphasized/prominent on the site.
And it's a local page, right? Not just G+ brand page.

This year people searched for everything under the sun and beyond, from distant comets to tiny burritos. And they asked Google important questions like “where do we come from?” and “should I get married?”

That’s why today we’re launching our annual #YearInSearch, a look back at the searches, questions and moments that defined 2014.

Watch the film, explore the site and relive the year along the way. g.co/2014

Always thought this would come.
The SEO industry is abuzz today with the news of Google’s latest ranking signal: Using SSL certificates will provide a boost in Google’s search rankings. (The web hosting industry is all abuzz, too, if you’re curious.) Google says it’s a “very lightweight signal” for now, but one that may become stronger over time because Google […]

@Mattew Barby does it again. I find outreach one of the hardest and ultimately soul destroying tasks in link building. This article lays out the basics of getting organised and taking action. Brilliant!
Building genuinely powerful and authoritative links isn’t easy. Sure, there are tons of ways to build links, but how many of these techniques actually enable you to gain real editorial mentions from top tier websites? The answer: not many. Getting a link from a leading publication within your industry can’t even be compared to something […]

We called in at Rowley's after a recommendation. I wasn't expecting anything special but was pleasantly surprised. We were served and seated quickly by friendly polite staff. The food came very quickly and was of a very high standard. Whilst the food was the purpose of the trip It was the service that stands out for me. Excellent!

The Staff at the Portland were absolutely fantastic. In 2010 my Dad was admitted. He had been suffering with terminal cancer. The staff treated him with dignity and made the utmost effort to ensure he was pain free in his last days. Furthermore they made every effort to accommodate myself and my mother when visiting him. They are not the most expensive nursing home but I'd definitely say they CARE about their customers.

I like eWeb Style. They are Real Guys, just regular dudes doing their jobs with passion and sharing the knowledge! They cover a wide variety of SEO related topics, in an informal and accessible way. Their knowledge is sound and consistent. They may not be all buttoned up, suit and tie guys... but they are the most listenable double act in SEO. I have personally downloaded all the podcasts. That says something! Get on it! Props to them. PitF
