Keep in mind that white papers are not academic studies that exist outside the realm of promotion. White papers are part of integrated marketing strategies that are designed to elicit buying action on the part of the reader. Think of the brochure or data sheet as the elevator pitch. All parties understand that they are promotional and biased. With complex technologies, brochures are designed to pique interest and offer proof of value. White papers establish expertise and competence while also serving to educate potential users on complex subjects.

Hangout Description
Join Michelle Pacansky-Brock and +Vicki Curtis for this Center Hangout brought to you by +@ONE to learn about an emerging technology called Presentain. Presentain blends the use of the web and a mobile app, allowing a professor to project slides hosted on Presentation with a unique URL, while students follow along on a free app on their mobile devices (supports iOS and Android).  The instructor is fully mobile in the classroom, using the app (on a smartphone or tablet) as a remote and microphone -- that’s right, Presentain records your presentation as you deliver your content. But those mobile devices in your students’ hands are more than viewing devices, they become avenues of participation for the learners too.  Each student may submit anonymous questions to the instructor.  With the fear of peer-identification removed, students may feel more free to express questions and areas of confusion. Also, pre-written polls may be distributed out to all students, turning their mobiles into formative assessment tools. At the end of the session, the entire presentation is archived and made available via a link.

Vicki will share how she has been using Presentain in her on-ground ESL class at Ohlone College to encourage greater student participation and improve the listening skills of her learners. Join us to see Presentain in action and ask questions!

Introduce Yourself Here  -

Hi All and thanks for the excellent resources and insights here.

I'm a journalist and digital marketer that's been heavily involved with business storytelling, content development and mobile communications for the past 18+ years.

As the kids get older and the need to give back grows, I'm looking to break into the CC teaching realm.

I'm here to meet other instructors, participate in the conversations and contribute what I've learned over the years.

More about my company, blog, thinking, etc is in the link below.

This place has what I consider the best carnitas plate in Orange County / OC area. They consistently get the crispy outer pork and tender inner chunks perfecto.

This is hands down the best sushi in Newport Beach / Orange County. The yuzu snapper is fantastic, citrusy and vibrant. The seared ahi has that wonderful garlic/olive green sauce. Try the crispy tuna appetizer - amazing texture and spicy zip. Abe trained with Matsuhisa, and you can tell. Every plate is impeccably prepared. Even the traditional eats are far beyond solid. Super fresh. I also love how they split up the pieces into smaller bites if you're sharing.
