to learn about an emerging technology called Presentain. Presentain blends the use of the web and a mobile app, allowing a professor to project slides hosted on Presentation with a unique URL, while students follow along on a free app on their mobile devices (supports iOS and Android). The instructor is fully mobile in the classroom, using the app (on a smartphone or tablet) as a remote and microphone -- that’s right, Presentain records your presentation as you deliver your content. But those mobile devices in your students’ hands are more than viewing devices, they become avenues of participation for the learners too. Each student may submit anonymous questions to the instructor. With the fear of peer-identification removed, students may feel more free to express questions and areas of confusion. Also, pre-written polls may be distributed out to all students, turning their mobiles into formative assessment tools. At the end of the session, the entire presentation is archived and made available via a link.
Vicki will share how she has been using Presentain in her on-ground ESL class at Ohlone College to encourage greater student participation and improve the listening skills of her learners. Join us to see Presentain in action and ask questions! How to View the Hangout:
