We here at Android Authority get a lot of feedback about the devices running our favorite operating system. However, the most negative comments usually have to do with battery life. And it makes sense: there’s nothing more frustrating than having this magical powerhouse of microtechnology suddenly die on you at 5pm, right as you were trying to make dinner plans.Because literally everyone owning a smartphone has experienced this problem, it’s no s...

A Facebook friend of mine added, "This is a decent article explaining the state of the climate. I wish they added that we can detect the carbon (e.g. Isotopes) that's come from natural vs artificial sources. At least they explain how cherry picking is done to sow confusion."

Circular, repetitive, and as of yet, unidentified echo northeast of the TMEM radar. Noticed it over the past several afternoons. Seems to originate near the landfill, not sure.

Upgraded my System76 Kudo Pro (2014) to Ubuntu 16.04 (from 15.10). Upon issuing a 'systemctl reboot' from the command line, or shutting down via the GUI, I now get the gray Apple logo screen, with pulsing Apple logo. This laptop has never seen OS X.

Using the default them and background. Changed to Numix theme and background, and Apple logo still appeared. Not a big deal, but strange.

(Pardon the sound of my 2-year old in the background)

SOLVED: Seems there is a bootsplash theme from noobslab PPA installed.  The package name is mbuntu-bscreen-v3 and it shows up in /lib/plymouth/themes/

What irks me more about this is that it's a blatant rip-off of Apple's design and uses their trademark.  Amateur hour.

So yeah, note to self: When you install third-party themes and find yourself not using them, remove them.  They probably reach further into the system than you realize. Sigh.

I think the consensus is that the echoes are not biologic. They're moving around 29 knots and show a nearly perfect circle, only slightly deformed in the presence of 30 kt wind gusts.  My guess is a pressure wave or some sort of wave propagation. Sometimes, a lower amplitude inner circle is evident behind the leading echo.  We may never know.

Still chasing down these curious circular, exapanding echoes northeast of TMEM / southeast of Memphis International Airport. Apparently not sonic anit-bird cannon waves as I'd thought. They appear to originate over the landfill.

I have two loops, but honestly, don't know or forgot how to include them in a comment.  Will post each separately.
