Jim is an Army veteran who opened his home and heart to Miracle, an eight year-old dog found in a pen emaciated, in deplorable conditions, and seemingly without human contact of any kind.

Miracle is slowly getting used to her new life - in a loving home - though is still wary of adults. Thank you, Jim, for being Miracle's hero!

The dogs and cats adopted through our program all have stories.

Some have been "pre-loved" and surrendered by reluctant guardians who can no longer care for them. Some are found as strays, having been lost or abandoned and never reunited with their families. And then there are those who have never known a loving hand. They are the victims of neglect, abuse and cruelty.

Find out how one dog in our program went from chained to cherished, thanks in part to the Navy veteran who adopted her:

Miracle was found in an outdoor pen, emaciated and in horrible conditions.

The eight year-old dog was appeared to have never been taken for a walk or had much in the way of human contact. One week ago, Jim - a Desert Storm Army veteran - applied to our program in order to adopt this very needy dog.

Miracle is slowly getting used to her new life, though is still wary of adults. We're grateful to Hinsdale Humane for giving Miracle special attention at the shelter, and to Jim for finding a place in his home and heart for this special girl.

We create unique opportunities for members of the military community to save a life by honorably adopting homeless, at-risk dogs and cats.
Introduction

Our mission is to transform the lives of veterans and service members by helping them adopt shelter pets that are overlooked simply because they are adults, large breed dogs or special needs animals.

We provide veterans with an affordable way to find the best match of pet for their lifestyle through our nationwide network of shelters, help with the startup costs of bringing a new pet home, and give our members access to lifelong discounted care through partnering veterinarians. Our program is free to veterans and service members.
