Not a git repo, a gist, it seems. Not clear whether it was created by an authorized user with little sense or the data was leaked before. I'm assuming the first.

Intro. Apart from this article, I also gave a talk at OHM2013 about this subject. The video of that talk (minus the first few minutes) is now online. Hard disks: if you read this, it's pretty much certain you use one or more of the things. They're pretty simple: they basically present a bunch of ...

Converting from CentOS6 to CentOS7 has convinced me that the authors of systemd are trying to kill me.

I like the theory of systemd.  I liked it when it was called launched and smf and implemented by people that fucking understood Unix and implemented it cleanly.

Ha ha, only serious.

Whoa, this will revolutionize architecture and urban planning.

If it's real, of course, it still feels kind of "too good to be true".
Access to natural daylight has long been one of the biggest limiting factors in building design - some solutions involve reflecting real daylight from the outdoors, but until now no solution has be...

Nice, but I wonder how they fit the nuclear fusion generator into it.
But seriously, it looks nice in the video. But until you see it in real life, you won't know how it looks/feels.

Have you ever wanted to learn to play an instrument? Me too. Have you ever tried really hard to learn to play an instrument and failed hard at it? I know I have, and this is the story of the Ukulelecopter. After two weeks of trying to learn some basic chords I gave up on my musical career. I didn't gain a lot of experience or skills by playing an instrument, but what I ended up with in the end was: A small python script to analyze microphone d...

https://platform.sh/blog/containers-are-the-new-static-binaries/

Extremely insightful article on containerization and how it repeats history, for better or for worse. The money quote for me:

You want this build process to have other qualities, primarily that the more you go towards the outer layers of your build the more declarative and less imperatively scripty you get.

(for some reason g+ doesn't want to share the page, so I'm just including the link in the text)

I would love to be able to disagree with Matt. Sadly he's 100% right. All of us in this industry (including in the OSS world, even though we like to pride ourselves as knowing better) are becoming more and more lax in security. Being marginally better than some other guy doesn't cut it, nor is convenience and time-to-market an acceptable excuse.
So blah blah Superfish blah blah trivial MITM everything's broken. Lenovo deserve criticism. The level of incompetence involved here is so staggering that it wouldn't be a gross injustice for the company to go under as a result[1]. But let's not pretend that this is some sort of isolated ...

Update:

"Va rugam ca in astfel de cazuri de inselatorie sa va adresati Politiei. CERT-RO nu are competente legale coercitive cu privire la actiunile pe care le poate
lua in cazul unor astfel de incidente."

Needless to say, sunt dezamagit.

'If the problem that Docker tries to fix is "making software run on all platforms is hard", then Docker's "solution" is "I give up, it's not possible". That's sad.'
is the new hype these days. Everyone seems to want to be part of it; even Microsoft wants to allow Docker to run on its platform. How they visualise that is slightly beyond me, seen as how Docker is mostly a case of "run a bunch of LXC instances", which by their definition can't happen on ...
