Thanks for the tip. This happens sporadicly enough, that it seems a good idea to add some tools to the toolbox. I found the following regex to be helpful for this kind of problem. It matches 7bit ASCII characters. [^\u0000-\u007f].

In this post I show how you can parse heredocs with the latest version of Marpa::R2. Code included. #marpa
Parse a heredoc with Marpa. April 19, 2013. I already wrote that I'm quite interested in the things Marpa can do for writing parsers. The latest release of Marpa includes an addition that makes parsin...

I actually do think people should learn to code, at least a little -- just as you learn a little chemistry, biology and math in school. Learning how to program is imho easier than those things, but then I have a natural ability to program, so what do I know. :-) But I don't like the way people at code.org are pitching it. And I don't like who is doing the pitching, and who isn't. Out of the 83 people they quote, I doubt if many of them have writt...

While I’m ragging on mobile stuff, I should say something productive. Yesterday, I built “checkin” into my personal site. Today, I tested it. There are things to improve, but that’s fine. It’s an early prototype. One thing I’ve noticed is that there’s not much in the way of joined up thinking regarding geolocation. I have an Android smartphone. It has a GPS built in. This is what I used to check into my site earlier. But I am currently unable...

I wrote a short description of the changes to the heredoc parser demo. It makes better use of the Marpa functionality now.
Changes to the heredoc parser example. April 22, 2013. Jeffrey Kegler, the author of Marpa, was kind enough to suggest a few changes to the parser from the previous blog post. Two of the three regular...

REFUSE TO BE TERRORIZED

That's the patriotic and most constructive thing to do.

Take it calmly. Don't make any sudden moves in response.

Bruce Schneier explains:

"How well this attack succeeds depends much less on what happened in Boston than by our reactions in the coming weeks and months. Terrorism isn't primarily a crime against people or property. It's a crime against our minds, using the deaths of innocents and destruction of property as accomplices. When we react from fear, when we change our laws and policies to make our country less open, the terrorists succeed, even if their attacks fail. But when we refuse to be terrorized, when we're indomitable in the face of terror, the terrorists fail, even if their attacks succeed."
