Using Joseph Campbell's Monomyth is a great way to set up a FATE game or campaign. I am using it to make sense of the one I am doing now. I got some great pointers from someone of using the actual physical space the game and events happen in to be narrative. That's helping a lot. For example if the characters come to a crossroad they also have a big decision to make. I'm working on it. This whole process it taking longer than I expected but I am really enjoying it.

#fatecore #aspects
I'm trying to wrap my head around good aspects. I get the idea of them. I just want to see if I really get them enough to run a game. So tell me what you think of these aspects for describing the much beloved action hero John McClain

High Concept: Sardonic Anti-Authority Cop
Trouble: Two steps (correction: one step) away from becoming a full blown alcoholic
Aspects
Never-say-die Maverick Spirit
Reluctant Hero
The wrong guy in the wrong place at the wrong time

Everyone who saw White and Gold should be rounded up and exiled to a penal colony on a very remote island. There they can fight it out and let the craziest of the crazies fight for domination and leave our rational blue and black seeing society in peace and harmony.

Why would the white and gold people fight it out? They all agree.

Thank Goodness George Lucas is still alive so that he could jump in and save this from that punk J. J. Abrams and all of his boring editorial choices!

This is so similar to how my cat improves my food by adding the cat fur it was missing!

My latest paper deals with the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence in the Legal World. The whole AI debate was kicked off late last year by Elon Musk with dire warnings of dangerous AI. I agree there is a risk. I also think that we can adopt safe practices by developing an ethical culture around how we build and use AI in law.
My latest public paper is about the current debate about Artificial Intelligence and the issues of risk, ethics, and values. I started thinking about this subject last March and made some progress on the concept over the summer. Then the big AI debate exploded with Elon Musk's now-deleted slide ...

This is a happy and joyous season (if you keep the news turned off!) and I like to make sure my favorite charities have enough to make it to the new year. One of my favorite web sites that I have found instrumental in training myself for better intellectual work than I have ever done before is Wikipedia. They don't require a lot to survive but in order to remain ad and influence free they need your donation. I just gave them $20. I do it every year. They are a worthy cause. Please consider them this year.

I guess steel core rounds mean business. Did some shooting on the property today and the tree holding the target was almost cut down by 308 Winchester and M855 5.56mm rounds. One looks like an ax chopped the tree but that is a bullet track!

I've used storage units a lot over the years as they allow one to create better room at home and organize large projects. Devon has a great staff that has always been helpful. The facility is reasonably secure and well maintained. They are part of a bigger corporation that runs their website and that is the only reason a star got knocked off, because the web site is atrocious. Do not do business via the website. Call or go in person to the office. You can often avoid a trip by getting form's emailed to you, print and sign and then scan them and send them back. My experience with the website is that it is very buggy. Everything else is excellent.
