Anyone else feels like this should be added? :-)
Edited my Guardian Badge for this, quite quick'n'dirty work, professionals might do it better, but it fits the needs I guess

What a lucky day!
I must admit, that I totally forgot that I'm an ambassador for my country and lost my suitcase (containing 12.5 million USD) at the Airport, but this fine guy found it and promises to return it to me.
Sure, at first glance, it sounds suspicious, but he demands 30% and this greed shows, it ain't a hoax.
And, believe it or not, just yesterday a real african prince offered me 10 mio USD, because I'm his long lost cousin and he's really glad to finally have found me!
Isn't it incredible?
Fortune seems to smile on me lately, as I had a distant relative in the states (Mr. John Smith), who sadly passed away. At least that's what I'm told, I can't remember him, must have emmigrated long ago. To cut a long story short: I get his heritage! Whoo-hoo, another 8.5 million USD.

Hmmm, so what happened here ... and why ... and will it lead to trouble?
As far as I can see, the scanner uses OSM (?) mapsdata now, while the Intelmap still uses Google mapsdata (see pic).
But as you see, there are some differences, like there are more roads/paths on OSM, but less buildings or vice versa in some areas.
Okay, I guess (hope), the portals won't be affected, because they have fixed coords, but still .. should we be prepared for some "flaws" in near future? :-)
any info +Andrew Krug or +Niantic Project ??

The story of this pic, all characters, factions, communities and incidents portayed are truely fictional and not based on current events or living or dead persons.
No animals were harmed in the making of this pic (I hope) and no person associated with posting this pic, which has been found on the web and which's source is unknwon and can't be credited more specific, has received anything of value (like payments) by tobacco companies.

About that badge and the drama ...
just bring back the capture date and let people decide, whether to kill those guardian portals or leave them untouched in case ;-)
Provide an API to the Intel data and lots of problems are solved, both factions would be free to invent useful features like better Intel and stuff and it would be balanced again. Like IITC for example.
Then we could focus on spoofers and other major TOS violations instead of repeatingly trying to blame the other faction for their tools and pretending that the own faction does not do such things... which is clearly a lie or naive.

Honestly: I can't stand it anymore, since 4 years people post #mimimi about "uhhh, I can't get a black guardian badge".
Well, I'm a rural player, I can't get a black engineer badge and wasn't able to get a black EXO5 badge (yes, there are more badges the opposing faction can deny to you than just this alltime favorite guardian...), so what, that's life... just live with it that you can't have all badges black instantly!

Well written.
And like in John 8:7 I'd like to add:
"Those without any sin may throw the first stone"

I personally didn't use the tools on RES side that lead to a lot of anger and finger pointing (didn't even know them) and I know that a lot ENL will instantly shout "whataboutism" like they do every time a RES says it, but .. the ENL has SOP and enl.wtf and whatever tools similar to RIOT/brokersguild, so PLEASE calm down and clean YOUR house too before judging on the other side!

Not all RES are users of tools more or less compliant to the TOS and I guess every Ingress agent at least once broken the TOS.

Sad but true, but ..
Did you ever play while driving?

Did you ever take a note with pen and paper to remember when and where your beloved enemy planted a guardian candidate in a rural area?

Did you ever participate in an Anomaly in a team that was told about enemy action or flip times?

Did you ever enter a restriction accessed area to capture or take down a portal?

Did you ever follow the path of an agent via Comm notifications or Intelmap to actually find and meet this player?

Well, guess you all got the point...

So: as long as the ENL uses tools similar to RIOT they all should better think twice before complaining too loud ;-)

I say clearly: breaking the TOS is BAD and esp. Spoofing and a lot of other things are really really bad and should have consequences, but #IntelisnotaCrime ... And based on my experience during the years:
There are "bad guys" on BOTH sides and no faction can claim to be "sober". Impossible.

At the end of the day, only one thing is important:
There are humans behind each scanner (except bots surely) and we should treat each other like we would like to be treated.

For US residents, Google needs to add the note that the cord between the bluetooth speakers may not be cut ... there seem to be people who wondered why their Pixelbuds didn't work after cutting the cord #facepalm

I'm always astonished, that humanity didn't extinct already if I read such things
