Apple's often used the classic Mac and the iMac to show off the most whimsy in its industrial design. "Whimsy" is not a word I'd use to describe the iMac aesthetic anymore.
Apple’s product design is elegant and sophisticated, but austere. Whether you’re holding a MacBook or an iPhone or an iMac, the best word to describe all of them is “thin.” And Apple seems intent o…

A new version of the El Capitan developer release is now ready for download. Public beta coming this summer, with a general release in the fall (as usual). But if you're creating apps for it, you probably want it sooner rather than later.
The second developer beta of OS X El Capitan is now available for download. Apple has released the second beta of OS X El Capitan to developers. It is available through the Mac Developer Center, and can also be downloaded through the Mac App Store for those running the previous version of the beta. OS X 10.11 is expected to be released to the public this fall, with a number of...

Tim Cook says unabashedly that the new MacBook is the future of laptops. But what does he mean, exactly?

Yep, because I keep telling my stepbrother who is one of the isheep that macs are overpriced pieces of underpowered hardware, and I can even throw my 5 year old laptop into a battle with a newer MacBook (maybe 2-3 years old) and my laptop would come out victorious, it's about a $500 laptop today versus the MacBooks, which are $800+, so i think that if you're running iOS, just jailbreak, we know these restrictions will be put into place, I used to like Apple, they weren't my favorite, but I liked them, they were "innovative" (fact, they actually stole the idea for the iPhone from Samsung, and Samsung is the one getting sued?) by perfecting technology competitors made, then Steve jobs died and they have that sodomist Tim Cook as CEO at Apple and he is very money hungry, as I tell people, the only reason Apple makes cash is because they sell to people who don't know price to performance and cannot tell a silicon chip from a chocolate chip, which seems to be a large percentage of the earth. Also you see how cheap Apple makes its garbage now, the Apple watch, the $350 one, it takes them $89 dollars to make, or beats, a $200 pair of solo2's its Apple $20 to make, makes me glad I got mine overstock for $35...

There are a lot of dead and injured people in Nepal, the victims of an earthquake that measured 7.8 on the Richter scale. If you'd like to help, Apple's made it easy with a link that takes you to the iTunes Store. 100% of everything you donate goes to the America Red Cross, earmarked for disaster relief efforts in the region.
Apple has set up a donation page to help facilitate donations to the American Red Cross, flagged to help the victims of the recent Nepal earthquake. The nation of Nepal has suffered a devastating earthquake that has killed thousands. Apple has set up a donation page on iTunes to help raise money for American Red Cross relief efforts in the region. The quake struck before noon local...

If you're whining about when your Apple Watch will get there or how fast the MacBook runs, maybe you need to get shot at by revolutionaries or have a nice case of bloody dysentery to remind you of what's important in life.

There's an easy way to get your Mac's serial number, if a tech like me ever asks for it.

Mac sales continue to outpace the PC market's decline, but there was an interesting twist this quarter: Mac revenue actually exceeded the iPad's for the first time since 2011. The Mac: Ascendant.
So much for the "post-PC era:" Apple generated more revenue from Macs this quarter than iPads. A number of factors seem to be aiding the growth. Despite a contracting worldwide PC market, Apple managed to buck the trend — once again — by selling more Macs than it ever has during its second quarter: More than 4.5 million Macs in total. What's more, Macs beat iPads in terms of revenue....

After spending some time with the MacBook, I really, really want Apple to bump its desktop computers and peripheral offerings with the new keyboard and Force Touch trackpad technology. This stuff needs to be EVERYWHERE.

That the Apple Watch is hard to get makes sense: New product, new market segment. Apple's cautious, doesn't want to flood the market. Innovations like the new butterfly switch keyboard and Force Touch trackpad aside, the MacBook is still a MacBook, so its limited availability is more aggravating.
