You think you know social media? I challenge you!!

The #GCARD3 social media bootcamp (Johannesburg, April 3-8) is now open for applications. - Find the details here:
http://blog.gfar.net/2016/03/03/join-gcard3-social-media-bootcamp-johannesburg/

Three days classroom training, combined with three days social reporting at #GCARD3 (the Third Global Conference on Agricultural Research for Development), will make it an intense bootcamp.

Applications are open to individuals, institutions and NGOs working in/on agriculture, sustainable development or ecosystems. But apply fast.

Participation in the training is free, and GCARD3 registration fees are waived for our social reporters, but candidates (through their organisation) need to fund their own travel/accommodation.

The training is organised by GFAR (the Global Forum on Agricultural Research) in cooperation with YPARD (the Young Professionals for Agricultural Development).

I am super excited about this...

Recognizing the crucial importance of young farmers, and the role of small entrepreneurship, we launched "YAP" this week. "YAP" (Youth Agripreneurs Project) is a pilot project providing seed funding (US$5,000) to young agriculture entrepreneurs.
But there is more: we'll integrate them in an extensive one year mentoring, training and follow-up program to ensure their agripreneurs project becomes a success.

This week, we launched the call for youth proposals. It is as if one of my old dreams is coming alive! :-)

http://blog.gfar.net/2016/02/17/calling-on-all-young-agripreneurs-submit-your-project/

We have a solid support infrastructure (combining GFAR, CGIAR and YPARD resources), have the basic funding in place still look for more! thanks to the first sponsors IFAD and Agropolis Fondation.
We have a solid project outline (which was participatory designed together with a large group of YPARD youth). We feature a cool training package at the upcoming #GCARD3 Global Consultation, and a well-oiled and tested YPARD mentoring program.

Our call for sponsors went out three weeks ago: http://blog.gfar.net/2016/01/26/yap-youth-agripreneurs-project-call-for-sponsors/ -- and in a limited time, we found sufficient support to launch the project.

Two days ago, we officially launched the call for young agripreneurs to submit their proposals:
http://blog.gfar.net/2016/02/17/calling-on-all-young-agripreneurs-submit-your-project/

In the first 48 hours after launching, we already received 10 proposals - of which 6 are already online http://blog.gfar.net/tag/yap/ - check them out!

May I call on you, each and all, to spread this, but even more, I would need your help on two things:

1. Please reach out through your networks and encourage young entrepreneurs to submit their projects
The submissions can be in English, French or Spanish. Deadline is March 15th, but as the first selection is done via the public, the earlier they submit the better.
All submission details are in this post: http://blog.gfar.net/2016/02/17/calling-on-all-young-agripreneurs-submit-your-project/

2. Help us fund this project:
We have the basic funding in place, but we need to reach a critical mass, to really make this pilot project a success.
Sponsoring one entrepreneur costs US$7,500 (we provide $5,000 of seedfunding to each project, and reserve $2,500 to bring (and accommodate) each agripreneur at the #GCARD3 Global Consultation, where their 5 day initiation training and mentoring program will be held. We do NOT charge any overhead to this project.
Details for sponsorship on this program can be found here: http://blog.gfar.net/2016/01/26/yap-youth-agripreneurs-project-call-for-sponsors/
See if your organisation might be interested in sponsorship, or help us reach out to entities who would be willing to help.

"YAP" is a pilot project by GFAR,  YPARD and CGIAR. It runs within our #GCARD3 program, the Third Global Conference on Agricultural Research for Development).
We, at GFAR and CGIAR, are committed to integrate, stimulate and mentor the involvement of youth in all of our collective programs. At #GCARD3, the Third Global Conference on Agricultural Research ...
