Winter kitesurfing at Brighton, did some nice jumps but felt a bit rusty. So good to be kiting again. Speed, bay swell and some boosts; great fun. Its hard now to imagine life without kiting.
Session 378. Back from NZ yesterday, really keen for some kitesurfing. The wind obliged today with a northerly in the afternoon. Stu W and I headed down for some Winter fun and weren't disappointed. This was my first ses...

Police are appealing for help to identify a man and car spotted on CCTV as they search for the person responsible for dumping tacks along a popular Melbourne cycling route. Thousands of dangerous tacks - about 10mm to 12mm - have been thrown on Yarra Boulevard over the past two years, ...

With election imminent, there has been an interesting focus on the environment in Kooyong
The long running federal election campaign is coming to an end. Most of the action has been in marginal seats in New South Wales and Queensland where cash gets splashed and promises are made. A safe Liberal seat like Kooyong...

Fantastic historic gardens with mature exotic and native trees and plants. Glass houses, lakes, paths and even a section of rainforest. Some very secluded areas too. Well worth a visit. Devonshire tea from the cafe by the lake is recommended. The famous "Tan Track" very popular with runners runs around the perimeter outside the gardens.

Nice park with open space very close to Melbourne's CBD and adjacent to the Yarra River. Some interesting sections like the hill and musical sculpture. Park is land that was reclaimed from a road. Path leads through it to the Melbourne Cricket Ground via a bridge at the eastern end. Shared bike pedestrian path goes through it too.

Great food and coffee in the busy Centre Place laneway. My favourite is the Taleggio cheese and mushroom crepe. Good baguettes too. Friendly staff, good vibe.

Perched on a high hill in the centre of Balywn. Great views from the tower, exciting for kids to climb up via steep stairs. Good playground. Section with native plants. Quite an oasis in suburbia.
