Det vore en skam om de la ner en så gammal och fin tradition. Dagarna skulle bli så trista om man visste att ens servrar är säkra.

1007kg of already racked computers. Hauled out by one guy on a truck where the lift had neither the size, nor lifting capacity to handle it. The rack was very close to falling over several times.

I was at the same time fascinated and horrified while watching.

Many things did not get done this weekend, but at least I cobbled together a Dreamcast with an 1.5" LCD. I would like to find a small 640x480 VGA display, and they exist, but I can't find anyone to source them from.

Erik of http://m.nu/ fame was nice enough to open the shop during the weekend so I could come get these nice old-school TV resolution screens to tide me over until I find something better.

Enjoy the shaky-cam footage. The display is really nice. Much nicer than the lighting conditions and the auto white-balancing of my phone would have it seem.

I thought about a retractable display for a while, and that would be fun, but the guts of the project prevents it. It's also another mechanical part that will fail.

Downsides of a hot summer: I need more power to be able to expel power from my apartment. The extra AC I set up managed to trigger the mains fuse and I was just woken up to beeping and this:

2014-07-25 23:52:43 +0200 Power failure.

2014-07-25 23:52:49 +0200 Running on UPS batteries.

2014-07-25 23:53:31 +0200 Mains returned. No longer on UPS batteries.

2014-07-25 23:53:31 +0200 Power is back. UPS running on mains.

One of those cheap portable ones on wheels. Often called 'pingvin'. Bought on CO many yeats ago.

I spent about 7hrs today cleaning out my mailbox. Totally worth it! Anyone who is waiting for answers to anything and didn't get it today: Resend, because I have no mails tagged for answering now.

IKEA knows their stuff. KASETT is is obviously made for storing old HDDs until they can be analyzed and destroyed. They have exactly enough space if you use anti-static bags, but need a little bit of padding if you don't.

Brilliant tip. Thanks! I need to get one or a few of these, and fill up on a few missing anti-stat bags too, most likely.

Step 2: Getting output on VGA and composite from the Dreamcast at the same time, check.

Yes, every cable in the picture is in use. But using a laptop as 5V source is not a permanent solution.
