I love to sit and write and free writing is a great way to get the creativeness flowing.
Have you suffered writers block? Well Free-writing is one technique that can help unblock your mind when there is no inspiration available to you. Are you worried about whether your writing is worthy of publication? Free-writing is all about getting something down on the page whether it is worthy of publication or not, it is about getting creative juices flowing and it matters nor whether you use pen and paper or a computer keyboard, the point is...

Do you love books? I do, but sadly I recognise they may be a thing of the past.
Any of us that love to read would agree that we love to hold a real book in our hands ~ Scott Biddulph of Two Drops of Ink The future of books has for more than a few years been an open question, there have been predictions about the collapse of the book industry for quite some time, yet almost every-time we think we have seen it's death knell the printed book gets a fresh lease of life. I am currently seeking a publisher for my novel, whose wor...

Reading out Loud That was something we were forced to do as a child in junior school when learning to read. I have to openly admit that reading my work aloud was not a habit I had ever developed, until recovering from serious problems with my eyes, but now it is something I do almost every time I write, or more correctly I have the computer read it to me. Doing so actually helps spot the errors, there have been times when I have the software rea...

There is much hype, myth, fantasy or voodoo mumbo-jumbo associated with getting your blog post noticed by Google and other search engines, the intention here is to cut through the myths and help bloggers win the battle of getting your posts noticed, identifying actions that writers can take to improve the visibility of each post, it is like the strategies involved in a game of chess. According to an SEO MOZ review of search engine ranking fact...

Many bloggers will be satisfied with the free platform Wordpress or Blogger provide and the facilities available there. It is true both offer a great platform for starting your blog, for many it is all they will ever need, but for some there is a need for something more, hence the need to move to to a hosted solution, perhaps to monetise the site or perhaps to simplify the web address. If you have decided a move is necessary then where do you ...

One of the greatest challenges of blogging is offering some unique information or perspective. Sadly there are fake gurus possessing little knowledge but cutting many words.

This is a guest post by Nancy Czerwinski about the challenges she faces as a writer.
Today I proudly introduce a guest piece by Nancy Czerwinski in my series about the challenges of writing. I encountered Nancy through Wikinut and have to say we have been great friends over the last few years, As she explains Nancy loves to write fiction and I truly believe that her work will be appreciated by the youth she writes for, I can see her reading to a library room full of wide-eyed children. Writing is very important to me. Writ...

When editing my work I find one of the most useful tools is reading the work out loud (or having the computer do it).

Are you showing your level of expertise?
Calling yourself a guru while giving nothing but common knowledge advice on your blog irritates me. I don’t visit your site to learn something I already know – that everyone already knows. ~ Stacey Roberts on ProBlogger When I announced, several years ago, that I was going to create a blog, my friends and former colleagues applauded me for doing do, stating you should after all you are THE GURU on that subject, well it's good to feel appreciated...

Good writers read, a lot! This is a fact and in reading we see many articles. Reblogging helps highlight important issues that others should be aware of.
