Level Up

A piece of conceptual photography from me today, this time a totally random find on the walk back from shooting at Matsumoto Castle (photo of that to come).
I'm always on the lookout for interesting architecture, and this complex with it's strange exterior staircases immediately caught my eye. Batting the rain, I found a viewpoint on the top floor of an adjacent car park and setup quickly with a lens cloth in hand.

Cool shot Peter. Love that you found a nice view point. I am often guilty of not making that extra effort. You did in the rain as well .... How much longer do you have in Japan?

Shots From the Streets - Harajuku, Tokyo

Starting to get to grips with the awesome little Ricoh GR. The quality from this sensor and lens is nothing short of fantastic.
With a silent shutter and manual (snap) focus, it's proving to be the perfect little street camera.

Ueno Light Trails

Good first day back in Tokyo. Checked out a few of my old camera store haunts, along with mandatory stops for ramen along the way.
It's been a while since I've been in winter weather so getting used to it isn't easy.
Here's a shot near where I'm staying, in the street market area of Ueno.

Shots from the Streets - The Silent Protestor

Will be posting up a few new B&W shots this week. To start things off, here is a shot from a few months ago at the Occupy protests in Admiralty, Hong Kong. Any Chinese readers able to decode what the headband says?

Winter Wonderland

Just back from a day trip to the awesome mountain village of Shirakawa, one of the snowiest places in all of Japan.
This unique location is a world heritage site, due to the style of the houses here in the village. Would love to visit here again during the summer to see the change in the scenery.

Portal

Looking up inside the lobby of a futuristic looking hotel in Shiba Park, Tokyo. I had to be quick with this one as the hotel wouldn't let me setup a tripod for this and didn't really take to my 'waiting for a mate' excuse.
It looks like a tunnel into another dimension!

Streets of Neon

Pumped to be heading back to Japan tomorrow. I'll be spending one month in the land of the rising sun before heading onwards to South Korea and Taiwan.

If anyone is currently in Tokyo and wants to help me out with doing some 'kojo yakei' in Kawasaki, hit me up!

Great shot +Peter Stewart - saw someone shared one of your shots on /r/pics that made it to the front page; very cool! Was going to post a link to your site in the thread, but saw you already made an appearance there. :)
