Our data, so far. We're going to try something new - I'll be updating this post daily for a week or two, while we see how the dust settles. Expect new numbers, new charts, and even major rewrites.

+Pete Meyers dives in to the data to find out what's going on with Mobilegeddon!
The day after the dreaded Mobilegeddon update from Google, what terrors have befallen the SERPs? Dr. Pete will regularly update this post with the latest from the Mobile Mozcast.

You want to see just how diverse one SERP can be? Great cross-device comparison peek by +Mike Blumenthal ...

I was curious what variety of Local Pack displays there might be across devices, OS & screen sizes. I used a responsive testing tool to find out.

The results are interesting to say the least. The variety is legion.

Google's second In-depth Articles redesign in a week -- new 3D In-depth Articles, to add perceived depth to celebrity news (here's a screenshot from a query for "kardashian")...

Google's In-depth Articles change seems to have rolled out. They've dropped the "In-depth Articles" header, making these results appear more organic (actually, they even look more organic in the source code). Screenshot below for "hotels" - it also looks like some SERPs have picked up In-depth results in the process.

+Pete Meyers Yea, the only hint they're even slightly different when viewed on mobile is the way date is displayed on article and News Source instead of URL

What happened when I moved 5 domains to 1 entirely new one, and why you should be careful before you attempt the same...
Should you change domain names for SEO? It's a tough question, usually asked way too casually. I merged 5 domains into 1, and this is what happened.

Survived my keynote. Great crowd in Sydney. Other than jet lag, amazing trip so far. Looking forward to relaxing a bit and enjoying the rest of the conference.

A look down the Google rabbit hole, and why I think all SEOs should care about vertical results.

Organic search results are shrinking. Dr. +Pete Meyers breaks down some major changes he's seen in the page-1 landscape over the past year. Don't miss his insights and the opportunities here, folks!
First, there were 10 results, then sometimes 7, and now as few as 4. In the past year, Google has changed the page-1 landscape entirely, and we barely noticed.

It looks like Google is testing a new satisfaction survey, for when searchers have turned off Safe Search. Seems a little unnecessary to me...

Missed this last week - announcement came right before two days of heavy algo flux.

Google announced a new ranking adjustment for doorway pages and at the same time updated their guidelines around doorway pages.  See the before and after.
Google announced they have updated their ranking algorithm to detect a larger and better set of doorway pages and thus wipe them out of the search results, as to improve search quality within Google's

Really interesting anecdotal data from +Stone Temple Consulting...

Can a Google Answer Box Drive Traffic to Your Site?

Mark Traphagen shows what kinds of Google Answer Boxes are least likely to drive site traffic, what kinds probably drive some traffic....and then a very interesting example from David Kutcher of a Rich Answer Box that looks like it shouldn't drive traffic, but probably is!

Introduction
As Non-resident Resident Marketing Scientist at Moz, my job is to make data cool. I've always believed that the best ideas and the best data are useless unless you can communicate them, and so it's my mission to explore strange new data and boldly blog where no one has blogged before.

David is one of the top minds in local SEO. His Local Search Ranking Factors is still one of the best resources in the industry, and he's the first person I go to when I can't decipher what Google is up to on the local level.

If you're looking for a company that's endorsed by fake SEOs everywhere, then look no further! AuroIN LLC can get you 100s of reviews from fictional profiles in just days, probably for a fraction of the cost of legitimate, legal reviews that won't get you sued. Act now, and they'll throw in one endorsement from a famous political figure and one from an 80s cartoon character absolutely free. Not everyone has reviews from Winston Churchill AND Space Ghost!

I've had the pleasure to work with the Walker Sands team on a number of internet-marketing projects (both SEO and SEM) over the past year. They really get personally involved in projects and do a great job of looking at the entire PR and marketing spectrum to bring clients measurable results.
