Often, we are asked by pet owners when is the right time to say goodbye to a beloved pet? It is never an easy subject and is always hard to know what the right thing is to do.

Having quality of life and to be comfortable should be the main priority when it comes to elderly or sick pets. Most commonly a pet will not simply pass in their sleep peacefully like we would prefer, and unfortunately, we are left with the extremely difficult decision to do it for them.
Ask yourself the following questions:
- Does your pet seem happy?
- Does he still seem to get excited when you come home every day?
- Is he still eating, or even interested in food?
- Is he looking emaciated?
- Is he too weak to be able to get up and move around, especially to relieve himself?
- Does he have infected pressure sores from not being able to get up?
- Do you often look at him and actually feel sorry for him?
If the answer is “yes” to many of these then, sadly, it might just be that time.

Quite often owners wonder if they have made the decision too early and cancel their appointments because their pet has had a “good day”, only to find later they have had to rush them to the emergency services in what is never a pleasant experience.
At the end of the day, your trusted vet will advise what is best for your pet, and it is IMPORTANT to get their opinion.

Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is often harder than one might think. Below are a few things to consider during the process to help understand and work through this difficult time.

- Ask the vet to explain the process of pet euthanasia and what to expect
- It is up to you about being present for the final farewell, keeping in mind that your presence means everything
- Don’t hold back your emotions before, during or after your pet’s euthanasia
- Be prepared for the house to feel empty
- Talk to family and friends, share how you are feeling
- Don’t dismiss your feelings of grief and loss, it is no less than any other grief
- There are ways to celebrate and remember your beloved pet

Pet Angel offer affordable individual cremations and products to memorialise your beloved pet in the way they deserve. Contact Pet Angel if you have any questions. www.petangel.com.au

As most of you are aware the Commonwealth Games are being held on the Gold Coast from 4th - 15th April 2018. Road closures and high-density traffic are expected and therefore may impact Pet Angel's collection times throughout the Gold Coast, and possibly Brisbane.

Pet Angel will endeavour to arrive at collections promptly but please allow as much notice as possible.

Your support and patience is appreciated during this time.
