Kirk House from the Corning Leader blogs on Western New York, but his recent blog post features Wellsboro and the Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center but also mentions the Hotel:

"A downtown hotel (the Penn-Wells), up-to-date in its comforts but still rejoicing in its old-time radiators, its high doors and ceilings, and its quirkily-shaped rooms."

That describes our Hotel for sure and its 1869 era rooms. Thanks for visiting, Kirk.

Our friends at the Wellsboro Diner received great accolades this week when they were ranked as one of the Top Ten Classic Diners in America by the Huffington Post and The Diner is located across from the street from the Penn Wells Lodge and a short walk down the street from the Penn Wells Hotel and Arcadia Theatre. The recognition is well deserved. The Diner is a local landmark, preserved in a classic style. It is a great dining spot for families. Our kids love it and our visitors do too. A favorite is breakfast at any time of the day -- pancakes, french toast, eggs your way -- and the open faced hot roast beef sandwich is highly recommended by us. Visitors to Wellsboro and the Penn Wells have learned what locals have known for generations -- the Diner is worth the including in any northern tier itinerary. If you haven't been there, check it out during your next stay.
