National Library Week – there are unlimited possibilities @the P.I.T. Library!

P.I.T. Library is more than a warehouse for books. The Library and the Director of the Library work to be change agents within the P.I.T. community. We attempt to transform lives through innovative educational resources and forward-thinking programming. The Library is doing its part to close the digital divide and level the playing field by providing free access to information and technologies that many students would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. As a college library, P.I.T. Library provides students, faculty, & staff with access to a wide variety of online resources which can include electronic books, journal articles, videos, & numerous other information sources, plus our newly created MakerSpace. The Librarian can help you figure out which resources to use for your research project.

About our users:

Two out of three Americans own library cards and use them.

And finally to close out National Library Week, a little gem about what a Librarian truly is:

“Ok, sure. We’ve all got our little preconceived notions about who librarians are and what they do.

Many people think of librarians as diminutive civil servants, scuttling about “Sssh-ing” people and stamping things. Well, think again buster.

Librarians have degrees. They go to graduate school for Information Science and become masters of data systems and human/computer interaction. Librarians can catalog anything from an onion to a dog’s ear. They could catalog you.

Librarians wield unfathomable power. With a flip of the wrist they can hide your dissertation behind piles of old Field and Stream magazines. They can find data for your term paper that you never knew existed. They may even point you toward new and appropriate subject headings.

People become librarians because they know too much. Their knowledge extends beyond mere categories. They cannot be confined to disciplines. Librarians are all-knowing and all-seeing. They bring order to chaos. They bring wisdom and culture to the masses. They preserve every aspect of human knowledge. Librarians rule. And they will kick the crap out of anyone who says otherwise.”

#WhereIsIt
This one stumped the majority of our committee. Let’s see if you can figure out not only WHERE it is, but WHAT it is! First correct answer with just the location wins a prize. If you can tell me WHAT it is (or rather what it used to be!) then I’ll give you a PIT USB drive!
