Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

Did anyone hear anything about Pearl Harbor Day yesterday? I waited all day for someone to honor the beginning of the war the fathers of my generation fought. My husband said he saw something about President Trump talking to veterans, but I must have been off doing Christmas baking when it came on.

My Uncle served in intelligence in Hawaii after the bombing, so he wasn't on the island when the Japanese struck. His words tell of the more simple life of those who worked behind the scenes to intercept the Japanese communications.

Where Do You Find Hope?

Searching for that thing we call hope has been incredibly elusive in past months.

Sure, you found it in the giggles of the children as they roamed the streets in costume during Halloween.

You will undoubtedly see it in the faces of the children as they race toward the tree on Christmas morning.

But, where do you find it when everything in the media has judgment and sarcasm?

I’m dumbfounded by the anger in the voices of the people around me. It’s like some evil veil has fallen over the land and enveloped every soul in a competition to see who can prove themselves right.

Make it STOP!

Extend the Thanksgiving Blessings

This is Thanksgiving weekend. Families are (hopefully) still gathered together, the Black Friday Sales have begun, and the Holiday Spirit sings from the speakers in every store and on every street corner.

Take a minute to smile at others this weekend. Speak to a stranger. Remember those things in life which have made your heart swoon and your spirits lift.

November Gratitude

Regardless of the abuse of my childhood, there were also blessings. The cycle of abuse can end when you look for the good in others. These men have forever inspired me to do the right thing and to always aspire to be my best self.

None of us can use the excuse of the social injustices made against us to continue the pattern. There are always good and wise people we can look up to and become the people we were always meant to be.
