Blogger update: Slideshow gadget retired, Search gadget searches blog only

On September 29th, there will be two major changes to Blogger blog gadgets. If your blog is affected, you will see the following notices on your Overview and Layout pages:

1. We recently announced that the Google Feed API would be retired. As a result, the Slideshow gadget will no longer function, and we will remove it from your blog by September 29, 2016.

What that means: the Slideshow gadget will be removed from your blog.

What you can use instead:

* Create a Google Slides slideshow and embed that on your blog:

+Ms Drasby has a nice tutorial:
https://msdrasbysblogger.blogspot.com/2016/04/show-case-students-work-embed-slides.html

* For the technically adept, use the Google Photos JSON RSS feed

+David Kutcher at +Blogger Xpertise has more details here:
http://www.blogxpertise.com/2016/07/user-id-album-id-and-jsonrss-feed-url.html

2 * By September 29, 2016, the Search Box gadget on this blog will only present search results from this blog. Search results from pages linked in your posts, from the Web or from the Blog List and Link List gadgets will not be presented anymore.*

This means that the Blogger search box will only search your blog. It will no longer display other types of search results.

An alternative is to add a Google Custom Search Engine:

And if you are an AdSense publisher with a full (not "Hosted") AdSense account, you can add AdSense for Search:

Thanks for the mention! BTW Google Slides allows the user to take photos directly onto a slide. I'm starting to create my photo albums this way because it allows me to re-order the photos, apply a pretty background, Text and animated effects.

+Ms Drasby is there a way to bulk add photos to populate the slides? Or do you have to add them one by one?

+Peggy K  Unfortunately not but this would be a resourceful feature to have added. I suggest we should have people submit feedback via a Google Slide Presentation: Click Help > Report a problem.
