Introduction: There's been a lot of recent talk about the Samsung SM951 M.2 PCIe SSD. It was supposed to launch as an NVMe product, but ended up coming out in AHCI form. We can only assume that Samsung chose to hold back on their NVMe-capable iteration because many devices are unable to boot ...

Allyn, thank you for the excellent description in the podcast here at http://pca.st/Z1Ex , sure am eagerly awaiting 4.6 for my many 840 EVO drives. It'll be easy from Windows 8.1, making the resume of my older VMs noticeably faster, like last time I "fixed" it:
https://TinkerTry.com/my-1tb-msata-samsung-840-evo-ssd-read-speed-slowdown-no-regrets-theres-a-fix
but not so easy a fix for my virtualization home lab server with ESXi 6.0. Back up, migrating all my data off, etc.  Sigh...good to know this should be my last time to go through this, and hoping Samsung doesn't make this mistake ever again.
