For years PCMS has been talking about the fact that if not for inaction by the traditional real estate industry, there would be no Trulia and Zillow. Ten years later they control access to the real estate consumer.

I say BRAVO!

This is not only a much needed wake-up call but also an amazing opportunity for innovative, fearless, and committed brokerages to step up and show consumers that they too are valuable for a variety of important reasons we all know too well. Problem is the industry thought those reasons were enough... they are not.

Do it by driving leads, engaging consumers with easy to use and robust websites that prove your local worth, actually getting back to consumers that fill out a web form, and maintaining those valuable relationships beyond the 3 - 6 months it takes to do a deal and collect a commission.

Trulia and Zillow engage consumers when they are not even thinking about buying or selling real estate. Can you say that?

Is the truth stranger than fiction? So far how realistic is this real estate transaction experience? 

Last week we met Justin and Kelly. A young, Millennial couple, eagerly shopping for their first home. Justin and Kelly knew they had a good handle on where they wanted to live, and the type of home they were looking for. 

Their agent unfortunately had other ideas. But not knowing how these things worked, the couple figured they needed Susan. They felt helpless, disrespected and resigned to wait. How does the rest of their day turn out?

1000 Watt made an interesting discovery on Redfin's video marketing. They're using a product called SundaySky. Something brokers and agents should definitely be looking at.  (You can read their blog article here:  http://1000watt.net/2014/06/redfin-doubles-down-on-video/)
