When Google My Business launched in June 2014 as the rebrand of Google Local/Places (and all the other names Google had for it), it came as a breath of fresh air. A new dawn that in Google's own words at the time aimed to "help your business shine" http://goo.gl/P9j1KR.
Whilst their intention was good, it was still very difficult to make sense of managing GMB pages, but as of yesterday they have performed quite a makeover on the Google My Business portal. It looks smarter and cleaner, but more importantly, it's much better organised and easier to manage if you are looking after multiple pages.
Time will of course tell and on the public side of GMB pages as I think Google have a great deal of work to do to restore confidence for businesses that it is worth having and maintaining pages to market themselves. They are worth having I am sure, but the problem is, that's not clear to business owners. Why should they invest time in something they do not understand or have even lost trust in?
Maybe this portal makeover will herald also herald a public makeover? I hope so.

Married to Tanith for over 28 years, 3 fantastic kids, and grateful to be one very lucky guy. I'm passionate about my wife, my family, my business and my friends, in that order.
My business is called Intergage and we love marketing and helping our customers get the most from the amazing opportunities new marketing techniques present. An incredible team of bright and helpful people. I'm proud to lead this team with my brother and business partner "Harry". Recently we merged Intergage with Tasty Marketing to form a full service marketing agency.
For fun I do mainly play with motorbikes (among my bikes are a 2005 Triumph Speed Triple, a 2013 Triumph Tiger 800XC, a 2005 GSXR 1000 and a couple of old Yamaha FZ600s), I fish, I listen to loud rock music, I walk and run with Tanith, work out regularly and I watch football (AFC Bournemouth Fan).
Born in Africa, grew up in Poole, Dorset. I love it here. I've recently become involved with the Dorset Chamber of Commerce and was recently elected Junior Vice President.
