Stage Hypnotism  -

Stage Hypnotism as Comedy

I'm envious of what these guys get to experience in this HBO special.  There are very few stage hypnotists, in my experience, who will sit around with each other and talk about the craft like these guys do here.  Hypnotism, in general, is a profession where everybody is sort of on an island by themselves.

In stage hypnotism, there is a body of work that gets repeated over and over again.  There is a widely held view in the general public that if you've seen one stage hypnosis show, you've pretty much seen them all.  I would love to see the stage hypnotism community develop, from within, a culture where stage hypnotists are supporting each other to develop more new content and give the art form a jolt.

Are You Logical?

Most human beings believe they are rational thinkers, but we don't use logic nearly as well as we'd like to believe we do.  Human beings do most of their thinking emotionally.
In the 1960s, the English psychologist Peter Wason devised an experiment that would revolutionize his field. This clever puzzle, known…

Has nothing to do with logic really. The words are 'meant' to trip you up, because you first have to figure out wtf they want from you. They dont tell you at all what they want. They just say pick something arbitrarily.

Hypnotism Students Have Q&A With Paul Ramsay, BCH

+Wendy Merron is a smart trainer.  She creates opportunities for her students to get perspectives from other practicing hypnotists.  I was lucky enough to be invited to do a Q&A with her students, and had a great time doing it.  We should share with each other like this more often.

You Have a Posterior Cingulate Cortex

Among other duties, it helps you process emotions.  Emotions drive behavior.  What do you choose to pay attention to in daily life?  What thoughts and feelings get most of your attention?   Our ongoing series of Hangouts explores this.

#neuroscience   #hypnosis   #emotions
Attention, Emotions, and Memories. The posterior cingulate cortex is involved with several processes in the brain. It is part of the default mode network, which we talked about in an earlier episode. Recently, we've been focusing on the concept of attention, and examining how attention works ...

How Has it Taken So Long for This to Be Invented?

Duh.  It's just common sense.  Put me at the ballpark with this and a beer, and I may never leave.

This Made Me Laugh

We want structure, we want answers, and we want results. But even when we get what we want, it doesn't always work out quite as we intended.
Recently, I went pseudo Paleo. I say pseudo, because, like most things in my life, I've jumped in headfirst without putting any thought or research into it (this is also how I ended up taking a workout class called “Insanity.” Afterwards, I was drooling and delirious. So I guess it delivered).

Today At Noon EST

Mani Saint-Victor and I are going to be talking about how to shape your intention in daily living, and develop better control over what gets your attention.

It's pretty common to have our attention get sucked up by thoughts and ideas that stress us out.  This takes our focus away from the things we could be thinking about or working on that would make life better.

Join us in this Hangout, and give us examples of how your attention is getting hijacked.  We'll help you get back on track!  With some simple, easy techniques, you'll be less stressed and more focused on living your best life.

One Step Closer

It's a good sign when the National Institute for Health gets behind hypnosis.  The culture supporting hypnotism in Britain has been, and continues to be, stronger than here in the United States, but hopefully they'll blaze a trail that we will eventually follow.

And here's an extra thought: self-hypnosis, for most people, is more difficult than letting yourself be hypnotized by someone else.  So while the study in the article shows some success, I am confident that a study that took a serious look at heterohypnosis for childbirth would see even better results.

It looks like the NHS in Britain is going to take Self Hypnosis for child birth more seriously. At least I hope so.

Read This. It's Talking About YOU.

If you focus on the part about drug use, you'll think this article doesn't apply to you, but it's an article about addiction.  We get addicted to food, television, tobacco, video games, shopping, and a host of other things.

We make our choices based on our emotional needs.  The need to feel safe, the need to feel significant, the need to feel loved and connected to other human beings.  We don't always connect the dots, in this regard, between the choices we make and the behaviors we engage in, and the emotional drivers of those choices.

Why are there so many diets out there?  Because diets don't fix the real problem; they address a symptom of the real problem.

Why are there so many products (the patch, the pill, the inhaler, the gum) to help people quit smoking?  It's the same reason, of course.  These products attempt to stop the behavior, but they don't address the real problem that drives the behavior.

If you want to live a truly happy life, spend less time focusing on the symptoms of your problem and focus on the problem itself.  Engage in a process, a journey, if you will, in which you forgive yourself of all the past things you're carrying with you, and focus on how you can be your most loving self now.

Introduction
Welcome to my Google+ profile!

I perform as a stage hypnotist for colleges, corporate events, and high schools.  My show, "Mind Games," is a unique approach to stage hypnosis that gets the audience more involved than other stage hypnotism shows.  If you would like to get a sense of how, check out my hypnosis videos over at my YouTube channel.

In the fall of 2013 I produced a reality web series titled, "Hypnotic." It was the first reality web series devoted to hypnotism.  A camera crew followed me on tour as I visited colleges in the United States, giving a behind-the-scenes look at what my life is like as a professional entertainer.

I teach stage hypnosis and consulting hypnosis to those who want to get certified and start their own careers in hypnotism.  If you think you might enjoy a career working full-time as a hypnotist, drop me a line and let's talk about it.  I'm always happy to share with people who are truly interested in hypnotism.

When I'm not performing, I consult with clients as a personal coach.  I believe we all run some version of "software" in our minds, and sometimes we need to update that software so that we can run a better version and get better results.  I help folks do that.

I am available for interviews on hypnotism, personal development, and entrepreneurship.  If you would like me to be a guest on your radio, TV show, podcast, or Hangout series, please contact me directly.

If you circle me, I want to share content with you that enriches your day.  To that end, I hope you will drop me a quick line and say hello and tell me which of the following areas interest you, as they are the ones I most often post about:

Hypnosis
Wellness
Personal Development
Food
Business/Entrepreneurship
Bragging rights

I made my first home purchase with the help of Northpoint Mortgage, and I also re-financed that same home with Northpoint's help. Karen Lagasse consistently goes above and beyond in her service. She is always prompt in returning phone calls, she takes all the time you need to explain things, and she is thorough in covering all the aspects of the lending process so that things get done properly. I found a lot of people are out there making claims about all the things that they can do for you when it comes to getting a loan, but many of them just want to sell you a loan. They don't necessarily care about whether that loan really puts you in a position to succeed financially and protect your purchase. Karen and the folks at Northpoint aren't like that. They do their best to get you a loan that's right for you. The buying process can be overwhelming and stressful. You just want to feel safe. You can trust these folks. Use Northpoint Mortgage.

I've had memberships at the Works and Planet Fitness, and those places are great in their own ways, but Seacoast Kettlebell is something special. They have the best instructors I've ever worked with. There is a really great atmosphere there. People are friendly and supportive, and there's a contagious energy from all the people who go there to work hard at being healthy, yet there's no pressure around that. The instructors are so good about helping you learn how to do things, and they balance pushing you to get a little more work in while always making sure that you're okay and you're not putting yourself at risk. There is a range of participants at Seacoast Kettlebell. Some folks are out of shape and trying to get themselves going again, while others are in amazing physical condition. Everybody is encouraged to adjust the workout to what's best for them. Be prepared: Crossfit is a serious workout. It kicks my butt every single class. But with so many good people around me there, I want to keep coming back and do better each time.

I have worked with Anchor Line on three different occasions, all of which were projects for my own business. The work, in each case, that was done was outstanding. Adam is super easy to work with, has a wonderful attention to detail, and delivers on whatever he says he's going to do for you. I will continue to think of Anchor Line as my first option for any video production work that I need in the New England area.

My wife and I discovered Sara Thai about two years ago, and it's a regular stop for us. The food is fresh and always promptly prepared. They have the best pan fried dumplings in the seacoast. Usually I develop a favorite dish or two at restaurants that I frequent, but at Sara Thai I just keep trying new dishes because I'm amazed at how much I enjoy them all. The food is so good there, in fact, that we have almost stopped eating Chinese food completely.
