Return to the Sea

Finally made it to this iconic spot along the Sonoma Coast. Low tide added to the favorable conditions. Maybe I'll try to get back here just after a little rain when the tide is up.

Early Light at Mesquite Dunes

After a mind numbing week at a Vegas conderence, a sunrise walk through Mesquite Flat Dunes was just what I needed to clear my head and fill my heart. Big thanks to +David Thompson for taking the time to be my guide. The dunes were endless fun.

Gallery Reception

Folk Photography
Poems I've Never Written

What are you doing Saturday Night?  Want to attend a very notable gallery reception for one of the early 20th century's most notable urban photographers?

Come see the work of Joe Schwartz in a new exhibition of his own silver gelatin prints titled "Folk Photography: Poems I've Never Written".  Click the link to read more.

I have a unique indirect connection to Joe and have been inspired my his work for a long time.  Even if you can't make the reception.  I encourage you to see the exhibition between now and March 7th.

Hope to see you there!

Incredible news!  The +Plus One Collection III  is funded now, but you still still add your contribution towards this fundraising effort for Eliza O'Neill and a cure for Sanfilippo syndrome.

Amazing news about Plus One Collection III

It is with much joy for the last minute miracle of large donations we are writing you all to report that we are now at 93% funding for the publication of the Plus One Collection III. We still have 12 hours to raise the remaining funds, but looks like we're almost there and the book will become a reality!

Let make it happen by spreading the word one more time. If you have additional funds and want to buy few more copies of the book for holiday gifts for your family and friends, now is a perfect time to do it, as we look to get the remaining 7% of funds. As it stands, only a small number of copies will go on sale after the book ships to all Indiegogo campaign supporters.

Let's make it happen for Eliza, her family, and all others affected by Sanfilippo Syndrome-Type A who would be blessed by the cure.

Boats and Bridges

I haven't posted photos in quite a while and figure y'all probably forgot about me. The warmth of the sun's last light bathes the New Bay Bridge.

Persistence of Vision

Persistence (or maybe stubbornness) and patience is what's required when sitting at Tunnel View overlooking Yosemite Valley as a winter storm passes through, sometimes for hours, and if one's lucky, sometimes only moments.  Occasionally its just worth it, alternately standing around in mixed rain and snow and retreating to the car, waiting for something, anything to happen with clouds, light, rock, water and trees.  There I was, waiting for the serendipitous moment of sunset and the hope of the storm just clearing.

Raw processing in Lightroom, followed by processing in Photoshop CS5 specifically for final coversion in Silver Efex Pro

So cool! Another supermoon this month. Funny thing though, when I was at Glacier Point for moonrise on May 24th, I was making comments that it looked like a supermoon. As it turns out, it was only 3000 km father away than this month's supermoon.

It pays to plan ahead. The next one is July 22, 2013 and it's slightly bigger
