As reported by BBC News last week, Oxfordshire County Council has pulled the plug on plans for an open access, 1000mbps capable, fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) network which would have provided fast Internet access to 90% of homes and business to the Chipping Norton area. The service would have been delivered by Cotswolds Broadband.

Peterborough City Council signs deal with CityFibre to provide true fibre optic broadband to it's 200,000 residents and 40,000 businesses.

The service will be better, way faster and cheaper than BT's awful fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) based broadband offering.

Congratulations to the Council for having some vision, putting the needs of the people first and saying "no" to BT.

Broadband connections finally restored to multiple residents in Dunkerton, N.E. Somerset after 18 days with no service.

Broadband is down at my home office so I'm hot-desking at The Bath Innovation Centre.

Good fast broadband and friendly staff - there's also a coffee machine!

I thought this was a post worth writing. All too often we assume that our clients have an understanding of the hosting service marketplace, but unfortunately many do not.

Making the wrong decision can often waste time and money, so it's worth taking a little time to educate where appropriate.
