I have suddenly become infinitely more informed on local events that I used to be thanks to +WSMV posting their news stories to their Google+ feed. Never frequent other local news sites and other media get too spammy on twitter, etc. This is just the right balance for me (and includes pretty pictures in-stream)

This could be fairly monumental in space travel history... SpaceX is learning how to make efficient rockets reusuable (in the past you could use fuel-inefficient space planes or fuel-efficient one-time-use vertical rockets)

Data upload from tracking plane shows first stage landing in Atlantic was good! Flight computers continued transmitting for 8 seconds after reaching the water. Stopped when booster went horizontal. Several boats en route through heavy seas...

Now if google can get the space elevator and nasa can get the james webb space telescope working we will be fully in a scifi future. We'll be able to find habitable exoplanets and build a nuclear or fusion powered rama style ship that can actually get to them in under one human lifetime!

Anyone else find it ironic that you can't setup any of Google's products (+Google Wallet or Google Checkout) as a form of payment for AdWords?

If you have an Android phone (edit: running Kit Kat 4.4+), go update your Camera app - it probably won't do it automatically since this is the first Play Store update for the camera app ever.

Today we’re launching Google Camera, a new app for your Android phone or tablet that makes it easy to take quick photos and videos. And being behind the lens just got more fun with new creative picture modes.

Sleek Design. The 100% viewfinder gets out of your way while capturing the maximum resolution of the scene (no dropped pixels). And the extra large capture button is easy to press so your eyes never lose sight of the subject.

Lens Blur. Emphasize the subject while blurring the background for an SLR-like shot with shallow depth-of-field (or bokeh). You can even change the subject in focus after taking the shot.

Improved Panorama. New higher resolution panoramas capture the full width and detail of a scene.

Photo Sphere. Immersive 360 degree photo spheres let you look up, down and all around...now at up to 50 megapixels! For the first time available on non-Nexus devices.

Google Camera is now available on the Play store (http://goo.gl/llsZjx), and works on all phones and tablets running Android 4.4+ KitKat. We’re just getting started, and in the months ahead we'll make Google Camera available to more devices, helping make photography easier, faster and more fun.

Check out our Research Blog to learn more (http://goo.gl/lUDfi8).

My wife has a weekly feature on her blog called "Fair Fashion Friday" where she talks about ethical and sustainable fashion as she tries to apply it on a budget every day.

Rockin' a ModCloth dress, Nisolo sandals, and Soko jewelry in my latest #fairfashionfri  post.

I actually really like the new Flickr android app. Wish their website was this nice. It's finally easy to switch between multiple accounts.

EDIT: Never mind my fandom of @Flickr's new android app. They killed the ability to tag people. And you want to be an Instagram competitor?
Inspiring photography. Introducing the new Flickr app.- Capture everything:...

I'm honestly a bit surprised, but pleasantly so: real, actual Microsoft Office is available on the Chrome Store for free.

A growing zoo with a decent selection of animals and a very good playground for kids from 2-20. Educational content for average visitors could be improved.

An OK place for normal dinner, the good stuff is the late night menu. Great place to hit for an after movie snack or dessert (amazing desserts) after a flick at the Belcourt.

Amazing architecture. Exhibits are hit or miss. Some are great, but some are duds. Worth having a membership for the 3-4 good ones that come through every year, plus the kids area is a good rainy day spot for the kids. Parking is a pain though, especially if you're unlucky enough to come when they're having a board meeting. They basically close down the parking lot to the public for those.

Trivia night is fun and the burgers and sweet potato fries are very good. Only downside: Burgers are made medium-well no matter how you order them and fries are occasionally left chilling under a heat lamp too long.
