So I helped +Paige Chester pick out a new phone; she went with the LG Optimus G instead of the Samsung Galaxy S III (or iPhone 5).

The LG is a beast. Kind of surprised it's sort of flying under the radar: 4.7" IPS display, 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, 13MP rear-facing camera (Sprint version), 1.3MP front-facing, NFC, LTE. Negatives? Ice Cream Sandwich instead of Jelly Bean, non-removable battery.

To my non-techy friends and family, I'll translate: "LG phone good."

It's the lack of Jelly Bean that kills it for me. Jelly Bean is so good, and it's been out since July. No excuse for shipping a new phone without it. None.
Ya, I was surprised LG saddled it with ICS, though I don't view it as a deal killer. Too well constructed and spec'd. Now if it was Gingerbread...

For those considering the S3 instead, T-Mobile's giving it (and all 4G Samsung phones) away free tomorrow and Saturday, albeit with a mail-in-rebate card. Alternately, Best Buy had a sign up advertising a $100 in-store gift card with the S3. Would be handy to use on accessories, like a case to make it less slippery.
TMobile doesn't technically have any 4G phones, not where 4G=LTE.
