Just got word that #TulsaTransit  is operating on  snow routes for today.  5xx (Broken Arrow) and 8xx (Nightline) routes are not accepting passenger deviations from route.  7xx (Rapid Transit) routes are not running.

Sudden realization:  Avenues in Tulsa are alphabetical from Main Street, east  of Main names US cities east of the Mississippi and west of main is west of the Mississippi.  Design failure:  Main Street (the only "street" running north/south in the city) probably should have been called Mississippi Avenue to obviate the metaphor.

It's east and west of Tulsa, I believe. Unless St. Louis refers to East St. Louis, for which I suppose an argument could be made.

Well, that's a bummer.  SimCity for the was the first (only?) game mom bought for me on the PC, and at first I was like, "Well, this is an odd premise" and then I got the hang of it and was building cities that would hit the limits of the map.  Not sure if their bigger mistake was not coming up with a new schtick or getting sucked up by EA.  Either way, it's always a little weird when a company that pretty much founded a genre goes under.
Oh man, this is a sad day. Former staff today reported - later confirmed by EA - that the heart of Maxis, the studio behind The Sims & Sim City, is to be ripped

The flowchart that the City of Tulsa should be using for transportation, but isn't.
There's an interesting conversation happening in urbanism circles about how to make transit financially sustainable, going back to a piece in CityLab last June from University of Minnesota professor David Levinson. Levinson made the case for running transit like a public utility, ...

This is what the school looks like where I'm voting on a school bond today. The neighboring (abandoned) pool, operated by the +National Park Service, is equally trashed. Cmon people, I realize that Van Estates is not the most upscale part of town, but Could You Fucking Not?

Classic greasy spoon on an iconic corner on Route 66. Nothing particularly remarkable, but it's consistently good food and a great hangover cure. Inexpensive; you definitely get your money's worth. Parking's in back if you didn't learn how to parallel park.

What I loved: Fursuit friendly, loves to host large groups, foul sensors turned on ("MARK IT ZERO!!"). What I didn't like: Random steps for no reason everywhere, which poses a tripping hazard when you're in fursuit and can't see down easily; scoring computers can't be used with paws on, and the touch sensors are a bit out of calibration.

Financial aid department will promise to find you only grants and scholarships, but then will sign you up for a student loan behind your back. Totally scammy school, and so much more expensive than state schools in the midwest.

Will definitely be coming back for more. Best state park I've ever been in. It's my home for at least 3 days every October for Oklacon. Park staff is nice, the facilities are the best I've seen in any state park. However, the bathrooms and showers in the Turkey Roost group camp are severely outdated and struggle with larger groups, and the Turkey Roost's overflow parking is difficult to get in and out of if you drive anything lower to the ground than a city SUV. I've been told that this is also among the most primitive of the Oklahoma State Parks, and even so, the amenities blow the doors off anything in the Oregon State Parks system. Word of warning, if fursuits or the furry fandom hits uncanny valley for you, probably a good idea to avoid it the weekend before Halloween annually when the convention is dominating the park and Watonga; the park hosts the largest outdoor furry convention in the world.

Pioneer Courthouse Square would be better, much better, if it wasn't horribly mismanaged. Concerts, beer tasting, sandcastle contests and other events that block off the entire square and hamper access to transit really should be held in Chapman Square. Pioneer Square was designed to be a public square and transit station, not an event venue, and it fails poorly at both when events beyond the tree lighting and new year's are attempted there.

Expensive but lousy food, bad service from everyone but Mike (the bellhop and shuttle driver), inconsistent housekeeping, broken Jacuzzi, bad wifi, no coffee maker in the suite, shuttle service is slow and an hour late if anyone other than Mike is driving. Casino has high minimums and cranky staff. Nosh Deli isn't actually a deli, but is an excellent source of food poisoning. This place is the exact opposite of the Hard Rock Casino Tulsa in almost every imaginable way.
