The video-over-ethernet streaming from the MEGA65 has been more or less resurrected, now with full frame-rate video, and some tools to make it easy to make videos of the MEGA65 in action -- all fully digitally.  Still some glitches to fix, and also the audio stream to add, but its mostly there now.

Argh! This has taken way more effort that expected, but it is behind us, and means we can push forward much more rapidly now.

Today we setup an indoor test network of Mesh Extenders, designed to make it easy for us to reproduce and verify fixing of bugs identified in the field. The result is a multi-hop UHF network, with a few good links, and one rather dodgy one, which is great for simulating real-life conditions. We have already used it to confirm that some recent bug fixing has been effective at solving a message delivery bug we hit in Vanuatu.

It's been a while since I had a chance to work on improving the CPU performance of the MEGA65, but today managed to find a bit of time to optimise one of the more neglected CPU functions.  While I need to track down why it is taking 40ns longer than predicted, nonetheless, with a handful of lines of VHDL, the MEGA65 can now execute the common forms of infinite loop in just 280ns -- about 1/4 of a C64 clock cycle.

Hopefully we have tracked down and fixed all the nasty bugs we found while in Vanuatu.  In the process, LBARD has been refactored to be (hopefully) much easier to understand, maintain and extend.  This all means: Time to get outside and test Mesh Extenders again!

A few people have asked for prototype Mesh Extenders lately. In response, we are sounding out the demand for us to get a small (= relatively expensive unit price) production run of the current generation of prototypes. To be clear: This is for EXPERIMENTAL units (and the price reflect that). We will make a separate announcement of commercial availability when the time is right.

I've started implementing enhanced BASIC for the MEGA65. It's far from complete, and it has plenty of bugs, but it can already do some quite fun graphics drawing.

Just a quick post documenting how I am doing raster splits in BASIC 2 (C64 mode) on the MEGA65, thanks to the higher CPU speed. I even have two splits per frame, without any trouble at all :)

Daniel has been hard at work on displaying 256-colour images on the MEGA65.

First look at the MEGA65's new configuration utility, thanks to Daniel's hard work. All written in 6502 assembly language.
