We've been led to believe that local, state, and federal police are charged with "protecting and serving," that our military forces only "defend our freedoms," and that our elected officials "serve the public good." These are all demonstrably false. Try debating the finer points of the Constitution with a police officer or a Predator drone. If you're lucky, you might just get tazered. The weakest link in the chain is the elected officials. When the people stand up to them, they quickly remember that the only power they have is the power they are given. Do not rely upon them to do the right thing by themselves--the very fact that laws such as PATRIOT, SOPA, PIPA, ACTA, etc. emerge with such broad support in Congress demonstrates that it will never happen. Tell the people who represent you that you do not support the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act of 2011 (CISPA) and that they will be held accountable if they do!!!
